I thought squadron 42 was supposed to be a space sim? Is it now an fps? I thought the fps module that's supposed to come out was called Star Marine? When did it change?

Hi Theldos. Welcome to the community.

You could interpret FPS as 'First Person Sim'. Works for me.

ah gotcha, that makes sense.

The best way of describing SC at the moment is the most ambitions Space Simulator that may ever be. Simply put; it covers the Sci Fi genre in its entirety. Everything from flight (think the star wars x wing vs tie fighter series), economic (x beyond the frontier) and any number of traditional FPS games without actually being any one of them. There are quite a few of us that are excited by it.

Hi Theldos, and welcome to the community!

Both Star Citizen and Squadron 42 are being dubbed as "First Person Universe" in that they encompass aspects of pretty much every other game out there, but do it all in first person and in-fiction with no immersion-breaking menus.

Arena Commander is the testbed for the space flight and space combat part of the two games, and, as you noted, Star Marine will be the testbed for First Person combat (I.e. FPS).

Following that, we should then get the Planetside/social module which will be the testbed for the multiplayer interaction, and the start of bringing all of the modules together to form the PU.

What sort of things are you thinking of doing in the game?  We're sure to have some others here who will be able to help with whatever it is you have planned.

See you in the 'verse! :)

Sheesh. I was just saying it's going to be good. ;)
