Every ship flies differently, and the Hornet is both heavy and slow, so you need to fly at full throttle pretty much all of the time and try to get behind your target (but avoid getting too close to asteroids otherwise you'll drift into them!).

You can't outrun a scythe, so don't bother trying - you need to out-maneuvre them and keep at them from the sides, rear or top/bottom, but try and avoid head-on jousting.

Vanduul like to ram too (that's what the big blade on the side is for) so watch out for that and try and strafe out of the way if they look like they're coming directly at you.

We can set up a game or two of co-op (up to 4 of us at a time) and we can practice together. :)

Well, its fighter combat, and you have to blow other fighters up before they blow you out of the sky.

The only defense you have is flak and rolls/maneuvers.  Whatever shield and armor you might have will be shredded up in no time.  Since fighters are fast and nimble, them maneuvers will be crucial.

Against AI and some players head-on combat plus a couple of tricks is an effective combat style.  You might need to use a mouse though..

I'm up for a co-op game for sure. I did managed to get to wave 7 earlier, 45 mins. I'm sort of getting the hang of it a bit, trying to go past them and yaw around keeping my xhairs on the target and when down to no shields take them with a missile, quite fun actually.

Back to the concept sale. This is actually quite interesting and I must admit I'm very tempted considering the current LTI sale and the few interior shots. Plus I think this will make an excellent asset in general. Very useful

I already had a Starfarer LTI in my hangar, so I'll be reading the Q&A's they say they are going to post on Monday, Wednesday & Friday, but I suspect I'll pick up the â,¬42 CCU to the G2G Gemini as I already like the sound of:

QuoteThe G2G Gemini, more commonly the Starfarer Gemini or ‘Star G,’ trades some cargo capacity and maneuverability in exchange for reinforced armor, increased shielding, more powerful engines and stronger versions of the three manned turrets.

I don't think the ship stat page has yet caught up though as the stats comparison page for both ships lists identical turrets.

One thing to note if you are considering buying: the Starfarer (because it has previously been on sale) only comes with 24 month insurance.    The G2G Gemini comes with LTI as it is the first concept sale of this ship variant.   That difference might sway some people.

Refuelling looks fun though - it seems someone will need to exit the ship at the rear, EVA along a gantry to a control panel and manually control the fuel nozzle to allow the refuelling.  Looks kind of cool!

Yeah, it does look good and I'm torn between keeping my stock Starfarer and upgrading to the G.

As you say TL, I think I need to read the upcoming Q&A before I can make a decision.

It does seem that the only difference in capability is the loss of a small amount of cargo space (which is not a prime factor for this ship).  The stronger shields, bigger power plant/engine, improved armor and better turret weapons seem a good swap for the loss of a small amount of a minor stat (cargo).   The description seems to indicate both retain the scoop and perversely both can have a missile pod, but it is not clear if the Gemini comes with the missile pod and the scoop, or if it is missile pod only.  Hopefully the Q&A will clarify that (or the RSI forums).

I didn't get the original star farer so it was nobrainer for me. I think I'm disliking dogfighting though.

Well I've always loved the Starfarer and was too late to get one on the initial LTI sale so I went and bought a Gemini, now seeing as that was the money I had set aside for the wifes birthday present does anyone have any cheap gift ideas that may save me from getting my balls cut off?

Nope but that Starfarer is going to be an expensive purchase :lmfao:

Make some hand made stuff?  Like soap or candles?

Women love that scented aromatic stuff, with extra bonus points for making it yourself.

I'm thinking if I went with that Idea I may be losing more than my balls
