Looks like there is a good chance the Reliant will be on sale on Friday. This being a two seater $50 starter ship. It might be nice for those considering buying something on a lighter budget who want something to introduce them to the game. Its a concept sale too so it'll be LTI.

Might CCU one of them Aurora MR to one of these.

Warframe - LydonB

It would make a great taxi shuttle. I can imagine people would pay for a cheap one way transport when they're moving from ship to ship

Is worth bearing in mind that it will end up being $60 for us due to VAT, and the ships won't come with a game package.

If you buy, remember to do so in Euros.

I probably won't be buying one but ...

QuoteMISC Reliant: With the success of the Freelancer “Built for Life” campaign, MISC has moved to join RSI and Consolidated in the single-seat introductory starship arena. Their silver bullet? A starter ship with more than one seat… and their ace in the hole: Xi’An technology. Where the Aurora is a pure utilitarian platform and the Mustang is a delicate, maneuverable personal transport, the Reliant is MISC’s most Xi’An tech-heavy ship to date. Featuring impossibly sleek lines, two separate crew seats and a vertical fuselage design, the Reliant’s streamlined cockpits glow with some of the finest xenotechnology available!

... then again I probably will.

From someone who has never played this game. That price is that actually real life money your paying for a virtual spaceship?

It's crowd-funding, pure and simple.   If you want to support development of the game then you pledge (even the url says 'pledge') your support and buy the game (and a ship) before release.  The early backer benefit is you get to choose something that you will get in-game, like a particular ship.

The crowd-funding model seems to have worked phenomenally well, they've raised over $82.5m funding to date.

Of course, if you're new to the game you'll want to pledge your support by buying a 'package', which is your chosen ship plus a copy of the game.  Buy your preferred game package here.  If you want to pledge additional backing for the game development then you can buy extra 'standalone ships' to add to your hangar.  That's what Friday's sale is about, offering a standalone ship for sale to provide additional backing for the development of the game.  Everything that you can buy during the crowd-funding period should also be available to purchase using in-game credits/money after launch.

The game itself has has two parts: a single player element (usually referred to as Squadron 42) and a persistent universe MMO, most often referred to as Star Citizen or 'the PU'.  S42 should be released later this year, the PU will take a little longer with an alpha PU expected at the end of 2015.

Should I welcome you to the DMW fleet now that you have decided to pledge? :narnar:

Is there no way to earn money in game to be able to afford them? Is there like a light at the end of the funding tunnel?

I added a line to my OP whilst you posted:

So, yes.  You can generate credits in-game (just like GTA V) and use it to purchase things in-game.

The light you see at the end of the tunnel is either a train, or the release of the game.   We expect a release of S42 later this year and the alpha/pre-alpha of the PU  at the end of this year.   The PU should then release sometime during 2016.

There is a huge amount of interest in this game within our community, we have over 50 people who have backed this game, so expectations are sky high.

You'll find thousands of videos on SC and quite a few streams, but keep in mind any streams are only one very small part of one element of the currently pre-alpha game.

One of the things that grabs our interest is the coop element of the game.  Coop is what DMW really enjoys, so the opportunity to explore a universe together and carve out different careers and play styles within our own DMW organisation is really exciting.

You could do a lot worse than reading about the game here:

And watching these:

I suggest you look out for the Reliant on Friday, LTI is a useful feature that normal startup ships do not have but it does mean you'd have to buy one other package to gain beta access or buy an arena commander pass.
Cheers, Bert

I forget does ITL move if you ucc it?

Yes LTI carries over when you CCU. In fact all items move from the original package.
