Okay chaps, the news of what I heard whispered at LaveCon has started to leak out through Frontier's dev diary.

In 1.4 player groups will be able to apply to be minor factions in game.

Is this something we want to do?

If so, what do we call ourselves and where would our home system be?

Currently there are only five regular dMw Elite Players and a couple of semi-regular ones. Are any of the lapsed players interested in re-joining the game with this element introduced?

1.4 will be announced in full with details of all features at GamesCom, which is on August 6th(?), and the 1.4 release will be around that time, plus the Close Quarters Combat Championship free DLC add-on will follow within weeks. This means Elite will have a Tournament style of game-play (red vs blue) before this October's LAN. Will there be interest in this?

Albert, Sneaky - what is your take on this development?

Interesting. I'm at Gamescon in Cologne on the Friday. I'll think on your note, I'm at a gig right now and its loud!

I have emailed Frontier to add dMw as a player group, which is the first step to becoming a minor faction, as time was ticking away and we could miss the boat.

To take the second step (once we are acknowledged as a player group) is to apply to become a minor faction.

We must send Frontier the following information:

Name of group: Dead Men Walking
Name of minor faction:
{we must decide}"Dead Men Space Walking"?
Type: (e.g Democracy, Criminal etc)
{we must decide} "Trade co-operative"?
Description:
{we must decide}
Location:
{we must decide} Zeta Trianguli Australis? BD+31 2373? Waq? Somewhere else?
Allegiance:
{we must decide}Alliance? Independant?

Read the details here:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=177719

I would suggest that we discuss these options and put our proposals for these to the vote.

That's very cool, thanks for keeping our name in their minds.

I think we always go for just Dead Men Walking for any in game clans and naming wherever possible I think, maybe others can chip in.

We existed quite nicely in Zeta for a long time. Do you think it will be available? A minor independent faction sounds appealing as we can all get allied with it and not change our power play or major faction rep no?

MayMay I suggest 'Dead Men Warping' if you decide to go that way.

I think this is more about actually having our name in the game rather than what we would want to call our in game group or alliance. I believe we used the warping variant for BSGO initially and decided to delete that initial clan and use the real name. I'm more keen to use the name any player would Google for and find our forums and website.

Happy to be over ruled by a good argument for variant naming.

This is the community's policy. We regard 'Dead Men Walking' to be our brand and use it wherever we can.

So we are leaning towards:

Name of group: Dead Men Walking
Name of minor faction:
Dead Men Walking Alliance
Type:
Co-operative
Description:
Dead Men Walking are a co-operative group of like-minded combat pilots and traders who decided (over much Gerasian Gueuze Beer and Lavian Brandy) that working together as a team was more social and much safer, leaving more time for healthy profit and friendly banter in the deeps of space.Join us and you'll never warp alone.
Location:
Zeta Trianguli Australis
Allegiance:
 Independent

We have three weeks or less to submit to Frontier. Any changes before we submit to the rest of the dMw Elite: Dangerous player base for review?

Excellent stuff. Is the location firmed up now?

I like the sound of that,  but perhaps Scottish Malt Whiskey! Never tasted the other 2.

The location was the one we first chose early on (before power-play) because it had good local trade, proximity to SOL and FOUNDERS WORLD and didn't require a permit.

Many of the players who haven't played much are probably still based there!

Do I repost this in the main forum and ask the rest of the community for their input before submission?

albert

Zeta isnt even too far from the Alliance port we chose for the start of power play, I think you've got this spot on with the details. There's no reason to discuss this with the wider community until it's reality as it might not happen if we're not accepted.

Please go ahead and apply on behalf of dMw.

Thanks,

Bert

Dead Men Walking is now (as of today) a registered group, so I have submitted the details posted previously in an application to become a minor faction.

Hi all,

I just wanted to send you an email to confirm that your group has been registered. We’re sorry for the delay in updating the list.

For those of you who would like to submit for their own minor faction the details are here

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=177719

The first batch has already gone through the the devs and once we have that list we will send an updated list of new minor factions.

We will also be keeping players updated on ranks shortly.

Thanks,

If all goes through, we will be inserted into the game when 1.4 is released in a few weeks. It will then be a matter of working for, well, ourselves -  to raise our standing and flip the system to Dead Men Walking Alliance.

After that, the galaxy is our playground!

albert

Very cool indeed Arithon. Can't wait to see our name with 2% influence and then we make us dominate the system :) That would be a nice community goal, the dMw community goal!
