It's not a minecraft experience.  It's not a voxel game.

IE lets say you want to mine.  You're not going to dig a hole, you're going to hit a resource node like WoW.

Building is also not like other voxel games out there.  You have a finite amount of different shapes, and they snap to each other, kind of like Stranded Deep.

This is the one game I have used the new Steam refund policy for. It's very expensive for an early access game and is woefully unoptimized especially considering the graphics aren't up to much anyway.

In my opinion, Rust is a far better game (which also has dedicated server support).

Yes the burden of an alpha game, the game had a few updates which made the game play much smoother though. I think it's very good for an alpha game. I haven't played Rust, so I can't compare it.

@Tealeaf, I actually meant he installed the server on his pc but after reading my message again, I do understand your confusion ;-)

Anyway, installing it now so I'd like someone with the game to test it when it's up (I'll post again).

As this is a Steam-based install I would hope that we won't see the usual "can't see it/can't join" issues we've been plagued with of late.

Yes but to be fair Rust is in alpha too and development of the new version started the same month as Ark. Anyway, if the performance is improving I'll take another look as I like the idea of "Rust with dinosaurs" (although I'm not a fan of being able to tame them - it just doesn't feel right to me).

OK. Bought the game and started to learn the ropes. Very much like 7D2D but the server works and appears in the in-game server list
