It is an survival game that is still in alpha. Almost every day there is 1 or 2 updates and they kinda really listen to the players what makes it nice aswell.

For myself i have been playing this game alot now and enjoyed it big time.
You get dumped on an Island with you having now clue on where you are etc. from that point you have to get going and try to survive.
Soon you will find out you can start building a base and get some dino's working for you etc.

I am playing this game with a few friends and a few days ago even Toby joined to have a go at the game.
If you decide to play, try to find a pve only server that is almost empty of players as otherwise no real usefull building space will be avail.
If you really like to play hardcore then try a pvp server (me and the rest of dwi are going there when games launches, or resets)

Below a quick run around the compound we build so you can sort of see a bit of the game.
1 thing about it: There aint no base on the whole server that even comes close to our base, so yeah we are kinda unique with ours.

and yes we build that club house, as our neighbours arn't really that friendly towards us or any other person on the server so we build that thing next to their base as a thank you:flirty:

OldBloke

Is there a dedicated server we could run up?

Those options should be avail.  will look into that later on

I know john (ARMA) has got it and raves about it, in fact he made me buy it.only tried 1st 5 mins, it was like playing the original far cry for the first time..wow and pretty

I came into this world with nothing,
through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.

BrotherTobious

I wasted my money (IMHO) on The Forest which while pretty and a nice idea was badly balanced and hasn't improved much. I'm not sure about Dinosaurs though. If we could get a server up or use a low population server then we could maybe do Minecraft on Raptors or something?

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

i noticed it has a local feature, does that mean we could run our own server?

Yes it's possible. I really enjoy this game. A friend of mine bought it yesterday too. And he started his own server on his pc. He played it yesterday together with another friend. So it's not only local.

To come back to Oldbloke's original question:

If he was able to start a server without owning a copy of the game then it's dedicated server.   That's what we (dMw) love as it means we can run our own server on our own hardware.  Having to own & run a copy of the game on a PC in order to spin up a 'local' server and then have others join it through a lobby or ip system is not the same.

But it seems you can.

OldBloke

There is a dedicated server for this game.

I'm happy to run up a server and make it public (to attract new members). However, as the game is still in development there's always the chance that an update will mean a wipe of the world already created (as per '7 Days 2 Die').

I'm getting a feeling of deja vu all over again! :roflmao:

Thanks OB

If we did run our own server I'd have a go, if it's going to be a Minecraft like experience with T-Rex instead of Creeper :D
