I am interested to hear your thoughts on adding the ability to use some client side addons with our server.

Some of you will remember we installed JSRS2 last November, do any of you still use it?

Something i would like to add which i think could add a lot to our game play is Dslyecxi's ShackTac Mods (and some more info, ShackTac User Interface (STHUD, STGI, and more) )

Here is a video of just one of the things included

Thoughts?

Haha now these are a few things I do know, I really depends what your looking for, if you want a more realistic game which will make it harder then your want the ACE mod to really change the game. One of the main things that my friend always said they changed was the ballistics, it does make the game harder but you can kill the enemy easier if you can hit them. One thing that I found with this mod aswell was the medic got changed and made them a lot harder to use because instead of the unlimited use of the medic bag, you got to use morphine and blood bags and you got to use them on the proper body parts.

I am happy to use anything at all tho, if you want the new interface that sounds good with me I know he is a great and hardcore arma player

Thanks for the suggestion Rogue but i think you highlight the problem with us using something like that, it changes the game play.  It is also something that if one player uses it, it would really need us all to us it and that is also something i would like to avoid.  It is something we could perhaps look at for a random Arma night.

Ideally, as with JSRS2 or the Fireteam HUD i'm looking for something which will ADD to not change game play, is simple and light weight (no or very little setting up) and will be independent of other players, ie, only use it if you want to.

Okay too bad I get you it does change the game, definetly give it ago some time tho and see way you think of it, I enjoy it because the makes it more realistic than the base game which has its pros and cons like it said. If you wanted some new units there are a bunch of community Addons there called on the steam market place I know your really good at making maps and this would allow you to use more units, vehicles and  a lot more. Another that a lot of people we is blast core this changes the explosive and support to make them a bit more realistic and bigger also the sounds of the explosives, I know a bit random but a lot of people recommend having this on for arma . The mods above dont change the game play and the community mods I don't think need everyone to have them even if they did it's easy to download from the steam market place, the explosive one I think everyone needs that so maybe not but still just saying about a mod people use a a lot :).

I know you might not wants these but these are just some I know about about and to make the game a bit more interesting. I am more then happy to try any mod really the interface one it's always good to see where everyone is and it removes the looking around in when your funning in a field to see where everyone is.

yeah definitely look at that list a lot fo great mods on there like the community add on mod that i was on about they are more simple mods to enhance the game instead of changing it

TwoBad

Which do you use Tut ?

My thoughts...

STHud & ST_GI - Mentioned in my first post and i'm in favor
ST Stamina Bar - Mentioned in my first post
TAO Fold Map - Not sure i like this one
Digital Compass Display - Don't see a need for this
MRB Voice Stop - Not sure of the benefit of this one
Push-to-hear - Seem like a good one to consider
FA_gps+ (by Head) - Don't think we need it, do we?
FA_map - Don't think we need it, do we?

Right then, we'll give some of these addons a go tonight.  If you don't want to try them out, don't worry as you should still be able to play as normal, well that's the theory anyway.

If you do ant to give it a go:

First thing you will need is CBA: Community Based Addons for Arma 3.  Follow the link and Subscribe.

The only other thing you will need are the ShackTac Mods which are in a package known as "ShackTac UI".  The info page about them can be found here.
To download the package click here or subscribe through the Steam Workshop here.

I don't intend to use all in the package, the ones i am going to try are:
ShackTac Fireteam HUD (In the Mods screen in the Arma launcher select sthud)
ShackTac Group Indicators (In the Mods screen in the Arma launcher select st gi)
ShackTac Name Tags (In the Mods screen in the Arma launcher select st nametags)

To get the best from ShackTac Name Tags you will need to disable the in game names.

Cheesy and I have found one issue in that when you load a saved kit your scope will be removed and you are prevented from adding one to the weapon.  To get around this load the scope in to you inventory and then place on your weapon.
