In the upcoming patch v258, PC is receiving a greater achievement set that matches the achievements on console. Unlocking these achievements comes with various cosmetics, hairstyles, and emotes.

One of these achievements called "Map Maker" requires the player to uncover more than 80% of the Mini-Map. However, many players at this point will have unlocked most of their mini-map already. The achievements are not retroactive, meaning in order to allow players to get this achievement we will be wiping the mini-map data for all players. The mini-map data is the only data that will be wiped, your other player data should remain untouched.

BTW, Brian was just on the server and the obelisk thing seems to work. At red tower he spawned in a Wyvern:
