I would be interested to hear why blizzard chose to do this to the extent that they have... I guess it is something along the lines of 'accessibility for all'.

I guess it keeps the game flowing, there is lower chance of a stalemate or creating a chokepoint. That is a good thing. On the other hand it plays differently then we are used to so you think you are in cover yet you die. At least it works both sides so it is "fair".
