Charlie Company Admin Training

OK Guys! I've been thinking - scarey I know but it happens once every 10 years whether I want it to or not

i hope that we will, in the future, need more Admins (given that we want to grow this baby) but we do not at present train our Admins. What about giving all Charlie company members RCON access on my server.

That way they would get a chance to use and practice RCON in a "safe" environment so that when we need more Admins there would hopefully be a pool of people to pick from (I know a few of them have been Admins elsewhere). Additionally, all these daft maps that I keep adding could be started by anyone from Charlie company rather than me having to keep changing the map rotation.

I am comfortable with the idea but I'd appreciate any comments like "Whoa trigger you'll get nuked because of..."

Thoughts?

I have been thinking about it and it could be an interesting experiment. It might be a good recruiting ground in the future.

I must admit that the first time I read it I thought you meant the dMw servers and not your own ...

. That is why it took that much time to answer.

BB you could also run a variation on that idea. Give people rcon on your server when they have been selected as admins and not before. It would only take a couple of sessions to run through the commands etc with an experienced admin. They could then be set loose on the dMw servers. They could still retain access to your server for practice and private testing of the commands. This way you wouldn't have the world and his dog rconning all over your server. It wouold also ensure that no new admin did anything horrific on the dMw servers.

This training could also be combined with basic admin ethics/guidelines to make sure no one misused their priviledges.

Sorry BB been drowned in work, and thinking, but yeah I'd like to know a bit more than the basics needed to keep the peasants in line.
