I'm interested, I'm waiting on reviews to make a decision as to whether I get it or not.

What it is - is a procedurally generated universe... it has over 18 quintillion planets - so although it is everyone in same universe...everyone has different starting points with campaign goal to reach centre of universe (i think)...so chance of people meeting each other will be slim

Interesting game for sure.  Not going to jump on it right away, I shall see how launch goes.  The vid below is the first I have seen of actual day-to-day game play.  Very similar to elite I think, which is a good thing.  May even have the edge on ED in some respects, atmospheric worlds etc.

Slim at the start

As you work towards the centre, so does everyone else, so eventually you end up a lot closer to people than at the start

I pre-ordered based on the quality of the open world and visuals I've seen on the preview videos. It's a multiplayer game with a very low instance capacity and the intention of playing more like a solo experience.

Sort of like Elite and we all know how well that went down with it's lack of multiplayer interaction.

Then I watch this video and it says about joining factions to team up with your friends: https://gaming.youtube.com/watch?v=deRLBJ7b-cU

I think this is going to be a fun game.

I'm definitely holding off this one. While procedurally generated worlds sounds like fun there's a real possibility that we're going to end up with something less than amazing. My main concern is about what I'm actually going to do? Yes flying down onto a brand new world is going to be great..... for about the first half dozen times but after than I'm not sure. Is NMS going to be just another go here..... gather stuff...... go there......sell stuff.......maybe fight off a pirate....... get money.....buy a bigger ship so I can get more stuff........ repeat ad infinitum? There have been far too many games like this recently.

It seems that for developers the process of creating virtual worlds and universes isn't too hard. What's hard is creating an actual game inside those worlds. And that's something that recent open world PC games have more or less completely failed to do. It's a simple thing to show me a huge spaceship, city, dinosaur, castle or whatever and say you could have that one day but right now you have nothing and are going to have to grind mindlessly upwards to get the final prize. That's not a game it's a chore. If NMS actually has lots of career choices, interaction with other players, real world events and challenges etc. then I'm in. But if we're all going to turn into little worker bees, mindlessly grinding away to get the next tier of ship or a bigger set of laser guns then I'll pass.

I'm waiting for the reviews of the game and then I'll see. Hopefully there's a real game in there and not just another mindless tree puncher.

At least the developers had the decency to actually release a complete and finished game. Too many 'games' live in perpetual beta which seems to be an excuse for 'we'll take your money but hey it's in development (for ever) so don't complain that it's full of bugs and missing core features....'.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

I'm with Smilodon. Also, I'm not sure I have the time for a game like this. I struggle to have enough time to only play CS, let alone other titles.

albert

It's definately not a linear or story driven game but I suspect there will be missions that have a range of ways to succeed. I know Elite disappointed Smilo. This may do the same. But then again, after Squadron 42 is over Star Citizen will be another grinding event. If folks cannot tolerate that game style I think SC will disappoint post SQ42.

Smilo raises a lot of good points - was tempted to pre purchase (get few extra goodies) but how many planets can you explore or trades completed before it gets too samey and loses its appeal (ie assassins creed felt same thing repeated for me) so may be worth just hanging off to see some reviews ðŸ'
