Hey Guys,

I have been thinking on our fleet and whether my spread of ships is optimal. Since my role will be Industry (I want to make stuff for the fleet and work with the Science guys to innovate) I am considering adding to our number of repair ships which currently stands at 2 Crucibles.

It's a big decision because I have a Carrack right now with LTI and whilst it strikes me as the most amazing ship, it's one of 10 in our fleet and the fun I feel in being part of a long distance exploration crew is exactly that, the crew. I can't see 10 Carrack's all having 2 or 3 guys constantly in space and exploring, we just can't sustain that level of dedication and gaming time, plus I can always tag along with others, scout and be forward offence for a Carrack in my Buccaneer or Reliant. So I was thinking swap my Carrack for a Crucible to complement my Reclaimer.

Do the job of....Recover the wreckage, repair it, use the resulting ship or part, make things and maybe reclaim a few ships over time for use.

Does this sound logical or just plan stoopid?

Cheers,

Albert

Doesn't sound stupid to me - it actually sounds like a well reasoned argument.

As an org, we do appear to be rather exploration/transport heavy (no bad thing), but we will undoubtedly require repair facilites at some point and the more repair ships we have available, the quicker we can turn around repairs.

Regrettably your logic does appear to be sound ('regrettably' as the Carrack *is* a damn nice ship, but you're right, we have 10 of them in the fleet).

I'm looking forward to the bit of the social management module where we can set permissions to loan out the ships to specific ranks/people within an org, and that's where having a good spread of ship types within the fleet will really pay off.

Good point about being able to loan ships out. I will bite the bullet and swap over. Thanks guys.

Edit: I never noticed this but you can create an upgrade token for any ship and if it's zero cost or cheap, choose at a later time whether to apply the upgrade or not. So technically I can keep my Carrack and just apply the Crucible upgrade before the PU release.
