Have u done your placement matches sneaky? If so, where did you rank out?

Ideally you want to group with similar rank players, or others who have not yet ranked. If you go in with groups with much higher or lower ranks, the games will likely be a mess and probably not much fun for anyone.

I don't think myopic is ranked yet? Others that I've seen interested in comp that may be keen on grouping up with you could be squiders, csubizon, Toxteth  (not sure if ranked yet either?), and maybe pnuts? Make sure you have these guys added on bnet and come on TS asking for a comp group, we will try to get you into one with a similar rank

Worth noting on Wednesdays we (as in the comp group including myself) WON'T be going into comp while there are others online - we will prioritise getting all dMw into games on those nights and stay mostly in quick play or customs

Placements can be a bit all over the place, especially if you haven't placed before. I would say just get 10 done and then work on rank after that

Goes quite a bit on individual performances as well sneaky. They wont release exactly how they calculate your rating but they have said that the placement matches arent the sole factor in deciding your rank. individual performances both in placement and also how you performed previous season is also blended into your final ranking.

As chaos says.... think of it as just a stepping stone to better your rank ðŸ–'

Hi Sneaks!

I'm planning on hitting the comp scene this year - I'm only 3 games into my placement, but I plan on finishing them tonight - so anyone else who has been locked out of the dmw comp system can join me

It's not a case of being 'locked out' mate, it's a case of bringing rank 1800 guys and girls into rank 2800 games is fun for no one! The game doesn't balance it well, and it usually ends up being a bit of a mess!

There are plenty in the community that would be great to group with around 2000 SR. If we can get these guys to all get together at a set time you could have some great games. Posting on here is a good idea, but I'd also strongly suggest anyone keen on comp but currently below 2500 in SR come to the Wednesday night - we will try our best to get you grouped up

Well - I rise to a challenge, so I don't mind I'm aware you guys don't want to risk your achievements playing with an unknown quantity - so that's cool.

Not many people ever seem to be playing so I'm always solo-queuing. This is the real reason that I'm annoyed about you guys locking me out of a group comp game.

Only reason it's a locked channel bud is so ppl don't just jump in and cause comms in-game to be perhaps missed (which has been explained in previous posts) and has been said drop the guys an in-game whisper and they should get back to you and either invite you in for games or prob split the group's up a bit.  We're always looking for more ppl to play but there's only perhaps 7 or 8 members playing regularly.  And most of reason why we want ppl to come on to the arranged nights (usually Wednesday night) where we have a bit of fun, mix the teams up and do some custom/quick play games depending on numbers.   It's not a personal thing that the channel is locked it's solely down to making sure only comms that are heard are ones that are to do with the gam bud ðŸ'

Heh... Well, we are more than happy to both a) try to get you into a group for comp at a lower level, and b) play quick play with you in a group to try help you improve your game. This can go for anyone of course! I will also recommend checking out the 'your overwatch' youtube channel as there are many informative videos there that focus on team play and game sense, two of the key things missing at lower ranks. It's not all just aiming! (And even if like me you're not the best shot there are heroes that don't rely on aim so much! :woot2: )


It's not about the numbers or the achievements as you put it, but more the actual experience of the games. Undoubtedly you've been on the wrong side of a badly balanced game of overwatch, and getting repeatedly shut down and slaughtered due to lack of team work, cohesion, grouping....it's just no fun at all. It's not even so much about individual ability or mechanics as it is about these fundamentals of 6v6 team play. That is actually, I think, quite a bit harder to develop!
