I can pop on for this, but will be more like 8pm after the little ones are in bed.

albert

That's fine. If participants orgsnise in advance to avoid lots of jumps then it should all come together.

Quote from: albert;421112- Horizons. We need to land on a planet!

obtained

Quote- A ship with a size 3 optional slot spare for a hangar and SRV
- a jump rang of at least 15LY to avoid going insane.

No idea this was even in the game!
What kind of ships would you recommend?
Obviously that includes the latter.
I've not played for quite a while, but I think my current ship has that range .... but no firepower at all.

QuoteThese are prep work items for everyone. So we do these in advance. Otherwise we will spend the evening doing prep work.

You can optionally accept the mission in advance and jump into orbit at the target planet. I recommend doing this.

Well, if you're flying tonight I guess I'll do prep work tonight and join you another ....

Thanks for helping me get kitted out with my new exploring cobra albert!

albert

No problem.

To summarize.

Cobra or small medium size ship of your choice.

A class FSD - A class Fuel scoop
Size 4 16T cargo bay minimum 24 useful
Planetary Vehicle Hangar
SRV buggy
Advanced Discovery Scanner
Detailed Surface Scanner
(Both scanners optional but nice to have)
D class everything else for lowest mass.
Guns optional, may need larger power plant and A is best option.

I have an Asp, useful for everything!

Maybe I need to check if the battery is still okay to start my ship. I believe my Python has most of whats needed.

Probably find that it's up on bricks in some scummy outpost somewhere.

Of course that might have been when we were testing Horizons and I might not have a buggy.

albert

Nice to see you back on Elite last night Lib. That makes 4 people having a go at this exploration mission.

I think there is no reason to wait until Thursday to get kitted out, pick up 2 missions in the Meene system and get onto the target planet. The more folks we have who have collected their artifacts, the more fun the search and scanning will be on Thursday.

Here's a very helpful video on how to get this mission going and avoid over confusion.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dX1KXXr56VU

(He says a cargo rack is useful, it's actually critical, and you need 12 free slots minimum to pickup 2 x of each of the orb, tablet, casket, totem, urn and relic).

At Meene, Felice Dock, you auto pickup the main mission and can separately pickup the community goal which is free money as both missions benefit from rewards for the same items scanned.

We really need more people to come along in order to get the boost in scans from the numbers in the group. 3 or 4 people only will lead to slower spawn rates of the obelisks. I tried this in the Mobius group which has thousands of members and with a full instance the spawn rate is one every minute which is about just enough time to scan and swap cargo around.

Anyone thinking of joining in on this should get to the point of having picked up their 2 x 6 artifacts in solo mode from the ruins before Thursday at 7pm GMT then hop into the Private group called Albert, request to join if you haven't already.

Purchased Horizons and fired it up. I'll be a while as I reintroduce myself to the myriad of controls I used to operate without thinking

😎 I'll be online this evening if you would like a refresher course. Most controls are the same up to the wing commands you used. You just need to map the buggy controls.

With the community goal completed and several hand ins of the alien ruin mission (with no special setup that any other pilot couldn't achieve) I managed to earn a total of 60 million CR over the weekend.

I think I handed in community scans 4 times and benefited from being in the Mobius PvE group and a lot more people being in my instance than the dMw groups. The larger the group even idling in the instance will reward you with every scan another group member achieves for the community goal. (The alien ruin info scans are a different matter, that's 1mill CR per data and lore extracted personally).

Actually, having been doing his for the last few days as well, I think the buggies could be used for interesting impromptu racing.

With some interesting terrain and enough people we could mark out turning points with our ships and have a buggy racing circuit.

I've also made quite a few million over this weekend and there are still just under 3 weeks of the personal scanning event left.

There are also small ship race circuits documented on the Elite Forums, apparently great fun. Turn up at a planet station, all buy the same ship and have a race through a canyon keeping below the top edge of the canyon.

This guy does all that stuff and videos it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1Z1EfbA47w or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GA1pMQj9_4 <---- Epic

INOVIK A 2 A apparently has a canyon that stretches 500Km!

With the end of the community event to supply aliens scans, here is the latest Galnet bulletin:

https://community.elitedangerous.com/en/galnet

This was the sub goal added to give more reward for participants. The main objective for 100m CR is still to uncover the mysteries of the Guardians is still active for a month!

With the sub goal done and dusted it will lead to another hint as to other ruin locations and perhaps other things unknown.

Further down on the Galnet report is the economic state. Like all things Elite, every piece of info has a purpose. If you now trade in boom states you earn more of course but rep increases double. Also you could use this to gain rep say with an org that unlocks an engineer. Twice as fast, twice as nice, Asda price!

Look at the Galnet daily for new leads!
