Due to Razer winning awards once again at CES...... They are once again running their 50% off hardware(excluding systems) with a code eligible on one day.

It's always a crazy event(website crashes/out of stock quickly etc) but I've always managed to nab something.

For reference Razer have, in the past, issued loads of codes but only have a limited amount of stock. So when some people, who assume they're sorted for a cheap product, actually try to use the code, they get an out of stock announcement.

I remember last year Razer got a lot of flack for what some argued was a cynical ploy, basically hoping that people got codes, got all excited about getting a shiny new cheap product and then got told they in fact were out of luck as everything was sold out. Techcrunch also reported that even if Razer accepted an order they would sometimes put a delivery estimate of "We have no idea when you'll get your product, check back later." The accusation is that Razer then hope the unlucky people will just buy the item for the full price anyway. The increased sales by unlucky people offset the cost of giving the discount to the lucky people.

The important point to remember is that Razer don't let on as to how many items are actually part of the sale i.e. 100 Deathadders... 1000 Deathadders...? So they are issuing far more codes than they have stock for. The code is just entry to a sort of lottery.

The two important bits of the T&C's are

• This promotion does not apply to systems, extended warranties or products that are out of stock.
  
• This promotion is only valid for the following periods, or while supplies last.
  
• Do also note that your order will only be confirmed when you have completed your purchase and have received a RazerStore Order Confirmation notification.
  

So go for it chaps, but accept you may be an unhappy bunny come the 18th Jan.
While that all sounds a bit gloomy and doom mongerish I would point out that during last years offer I got a code and applied it to a Razer Nabu worth about £100 and WON! I also got the band within about four days of placing the successful order. Hurrah for me. :yahoo:

Are any of their products really well rated? I have their original mouse in my box of legacy stuff at home, but that's about it.

I tried to get a few items last year but didn't have any luck.  I was on the site at the start of the promotion time and it was really frustrating.  I'll try again and if I get something then great but not expecting to.

I've bought quite a lot from them....And try to wait till these events....I have purchased the tiamat headphones and I love my mamba chroma mouse and my blackwidow chroma keyboard (although I have been told the mech switches in keyboard are too loud and wake the baby). 😕🙈

Probably look at getting the ornata (although currently on notify me status) or more likely the turret keyboard/mouse this year but will see.


In previous years I've always known what I'm going to buy, and had my code etc already ready in the auto fill as it's always been first come first served.

I do agree with what Smilo has said though - they only have a certain number of units of each available....How many no one knows.  But I've just been lucky I guess.

Yep Razer stuff is top notch and getting it at 50% off is a treat, it's just the process they use that's a bit suspect. Their mice are all top drawer and the keyboards are up there with the best although IMHO Corsair are No 1 for keyboards. I think their headphones get mixed reviews and the Nabu fitness bands are honestly not a patch on Fitbit.

I don't think they are actually trying to con anyone with this offer and are genuinely offering big discounts, in spite of what some tech media claim. It's just that a code is no guarantee that you'll get what you are after. You also need to be hitting the buy button at 1 second past the deadline and accept that there will be loads of people doing exactly the same come 18th.

Go for it, get in early and cross your fingers.

I was thinking that keyboard and mouse set for lounge lap use at â,¬189 would be nice half price. Although I have a small Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse for my Steam Link gaming with the wife in the lounge already, it ain't comfortable.

I used my code before adding my Turret. Wouldn't let me reapply it. But I got the Chroma Stealth game claw which looks awesome. Happy ☺
