This team swapping

Im getting really fed-up of the team swapping and moaning situation..

Im all for evening up a team so that close battles can be played and make an enjoyable match but i DONT agree with making stupid one sided teams to alter the scores it is pointless and not neccessary.
Also if a team has plenty of people and still cant win then it is also obvious that they are not working together correctly and deserve to lose ...imo.
Im fed up of playing against stupid odds just so that the games can be brought upto a closer level.
I dont look at the amount of rounds won at the end of the game i look for a good close enjoyable game.

Sorry i am moaning but i want to moan.

Now is it just me or should i shut up or can we have a look at how to make it better?

Move the top player over only?
Swap the top player from the winning side and the bottom from the other?

Let me know because im fed up of leaving after playing CS being pissed off.

Yup. I agree. Sometimes teams just get stupidly unbalanced. 5 vs 11 is just silly. Better to move the top guy(s) and move a bottom score guy between the teams.

one problem is that maps are not even .....italy / rio is bad for this with a big T advantage ......in a match just winning 5 or 6 rounds as a ct would be a good result but as we only play one half this needs to be balanced for a enjoyable game

with the coming and going of players i find it hard to blance the rounds and the playability

How we balance is the hard bit .....I cant think of an easy fix. As sadako says swap the top players..? or maybe limit the number of extra players a team has?

Playing on cofr they have some auto balance plugin that seems to work quite well (but its not perfect) that could possibly be worth a try

I think on the whole we do quite a good job but its almost impossible to get right if just 1 player is on a big kill spree for a few of rounds or you get a few people joining :eyebrow:

Please, No! The auto plug-ins generally suck and will enforce the exact balancing of scores that you have all just expressed disatisfaction with. The plug-in is NOT the answer.

/Aside for Smite: I'm sorry if it was me that got you pissed off last night with team selection and swapping sides last night, but I had good reason to be when an experienced dMw member connects while 3 peeps per team playing de_dust and then joins T to give them one more person than CT and when T are already leadiing the round scores. I'm afraid I will always have a moan about that. I also had a moan about DA swapping for no good reason just so he could play T on that map. Guess what, Ts went on a killing spree again. In fact I was so pissed off with their combined behaviour that I would have bailed for the night had it not been for the upcoming match.

Simple fact is that in order to keep a handle on gameplay you need to balance teams. How an individual admin does it is another question. If the teams aren't balanced then use your rcon and sort it. Gameplay is what we do well.

My biggest concern is the "Lets level up the score" that does'nt matter because nobody really cares about the end result is as long as a good CLOSE game is had and that is what is enjoyable. Aswell as if a game always goes down to the last man standing but one team is lucky enough to keep winning then i dont think a team should be altered as it was constantly a close match. (hope i explained that OK)

On a seperate note:- I am really struggling with admining a server because i honestly don't know anymore what is and is'nt allowed, i am starting to see more lone wolfing and flanking without anybody asking the team and if they do ask it is'nt asking its telling..... Please help me with this because i really am unsure about it.

Let's make more use of the AMX admin chat facility ingame to sort out any gameplay issues.

In say_team type "@ your message"

This will be seen by admins only. Note the @ is above the 2 ingame.

If a match needs balancing (and it can't be achieved simply) then get both teams to hold at spawn while the admin/s sort it out.

As for when to step in as admin ... when the actions of an individual give rise to either a member complaining or you yourself being unhappy with their actions.

So.

Did anyone complain? Do you think their complaint was justified? Has the player being complained about regularly transgressed? Does the complainer regularly complain unnecessarily? Did you see the incident?

I suppose it's a bit wooly but it's really like a footy ref either blowing his whistle every five minutes or letting the game flow.

Just remember that you *are* the ref and if anyone doesn't like your decisions then we have a procedure to deal with that.

I have had a lot of people ask me "Is he allowed there" and "Should he be allowed to do that" and i've been stuck for an answer because in my eyes they should'nt have done it but the person doing it may have been an admin and i could'nt call or complain against another admin.... so im thinking that i may be trying to incorporate the old boundary rules and as i have stated before i do not play on any other servers so my game was solely PCS.

I think i need to read through the rules again because it appears that the problem may be with me not adjusting to TCS very well.

I dont do a great deal as an admin so im thinking it may be time to step down.

Smite, if you step down it will be our and the member's loss, so think carefully before doing anything that rash. You're right, it is more difficult for us to Admin under TCS as we have no black and white limits, but at the end of the day I always try to apply the old PCS rules in my head and then flex them for 'reasonableness' - pretty much the way OB described. And I would welcome another set of fingers typing Admin messages alongside my own!

I actually took more time to assess sides last night and tried the swap the top player with bottom from the other and it worked out nicely.

We had one player who kept buying the autosniper and i tried slapping him and slayed him........im not sure how i did this because im sure it said slap but he never bought it again

I think i am just going to have to ask a few people after an incident and see if they would class that in/out of the TCS style and get my head around it that way but squ0nk and oldie were helping out last night and made it much easier and more enjoyable.

So i remove my step down
