I have absolutely no idea what that was about.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Kinda sums up my feelings this morning

Yeah from major hype to crash landing. I watched it through to the equaliser and by then I could see so many mistakes creeping in, perhaps fatigue, small niggles like Trippier's groin issue that players were ignoring. At that level against such quality experienced opposition you have to get off the park if you are not 100% fit. Not taking anything away from them, they played their socks off. I felt Young and Trippier should have been subbed even before the equalising goal. Ok hardly sets you up for extra time but in reality 70 minutes in means the subs only play 50 minutes max and take a penalty. In the end Croatia's experience won them the game. I don't think England will lose to them next time assuming the squad's careers remain on track and they are fit.

Wise words from Tom Fordyce and from his father.

"You youngsters will have lots of chances to watch England in future World Cups. May you have the joy that I felt in 1966, sometime in the near future."

Something to make you smile and melancholic at exactly the same time. Just like England's World Cup adventure, just like another floodlit night of promise and pain.
