4mm thick might feel a little spongy but the Steel series mats are good. I have both a QCK+ (3mm) and a QCK heavy (6mm) I use the heavy one as the main it's a really nice surface.

Gotta say these Steelseries suit me as well. I have a medium Silicone one for my desk and place a heavy foam one on top for comfort. Very good value.

I went for another one as I have a raspberry pi running Linux on my desk and I sometimes need to use the keyboard and mouse with it.  According to the spec that one doesn't support it:
