I think ive stumbled onto a CS1.6 Lan Version

Ive installed the above file dont know if any1 else has found this and seems to work for me im going to try a lan game tomorrow. It doesnt need an internet connection to verify itself like steam currently does because its valve? but its cs 1.6 but not steam

So fingers crossed this could be the answer for the next lan. The links still active if you want it too.

We'll consider this for the LAN but there's no way I'm gonna mess with my Steam install until I have to. <_<

It doesnt mess with steam at all!

Its seperate its just like 1.5 valve installs in the past but install the 1.6 version i have it on this computer and another one in my network in which i have played a lan game without a internet connection active. Once installed it just drops a shortcut to the game on your desktop which is a direct link to the game seperate to your steam cs so everything is basic ie models etc. And my steam works fine no problems at all as for the same with my system no viruses etc. I must say it did look a bit strange with just posting a direct link for dl with no before site to explain but it is fine and i hope will prove useful for the next lan.

I do believe this is a lan only version as you cant connect to the internet as it says steam authorisation required so a cs 1.6 lan game would need to intenet authorisation to work

I've just installed it and it installs in program file/Valve. It's quite seperate from steam and 1.5. I simply copied all my maps, models, sprites, sounds and config files and you can't tell the difference. But of course Steam doesn't come into it. Nice one DA

This, I think is the answer to the LAN.
