Interesting new Open World MMO from Amazon Games Studio, released end of March this year.
I, for one, will be keeping my eye on this one.

I'm waiting for the beta to open next month, it looks like it might be a fun game.   We should coordinate on server etc when it launches.

With covid et al everything is delayed at the moment, so New World is still in closed alpha.  
Closed beta kicks off in July and I'm hoping to get an invite to try it out at that point.  
The scheduled release date has been delayed until August 25th.

My understanding is that we should choose the same faction.

I cannot find any information if faction choice is account bound or character bound, or even if we can roll other characters!
I would imagine there is probably some faction lock .... hopefully an option to change factions will be in as well.

If this is the case we could do a vote to see which faction people want to play as and then go from there, least it keeps us together.

So we are infact limited to one character per server to satifsy the faction lock.
Which means TL is right - we need to pick a server, but we also need to pick a faction.

I don't have enough information on any to make an informed choice .... i hope the beta is big and open enough so we can experience all 3 and then decide.

Once you choose a Faction, you are free to create or join a Company in your chosen Faction. Choosing a Faction shouldn’t be taken lightly, as your decision will be locked. That’s why you have the opportunity to explore the game and the social landscape on the server before you make your decision.

This makes me think that switching will not be possible at all.
