From what I have read no, it isn't planned to run on monthly subscriptions.

I find the pre-orders brave ... hopefully it pays off, but for me it still looks like an unknown quantity.

I liked what I saw, especially since it's more action focused. In buying this I save my liver by not speding £30 on beer!

my thoughts with pre-purchasing is that i'll get access to beta and if I dont like it there is always refund option

Quite a jump, they really must have made a mess of this to have to push it back so far so late in the roadmap. Sort of makes me wonder if they'll keep up the momentum or just try to get it out the door an move on. Refund, timer alert...

They seem to be lacking sufficient middle and end game content according to what I read.  Whatever the reason, it's disappointing.

With the open beta and launch being pushed back I think they felt the need to give people 'something' to feel positive about.....

As a thank you to our community, we will be providing a special opportunity for our Beta sign-up customers through July 9th and all pre-order customers (plus our Alpha testers, thank you!) to play the full game of New World - in its current state, for a limited period of time starting on 25 August. In preparation for that event, we will be bringing our current Alpha test down on 12 July. We will send an email directly to those customers detailing the process to participate.

It will be an interesting opportunity to see how developed (or otherwise) the game is and what it feels like.

From my understanding, the game was meant to be a PvP open world game; where you drop items when you die etc.  This didn't hit well with initial testing groups and the heads decided to cater to the PvE crowd and pivot away from the PvP focus. The problem was, they didn't have enough PvE content or endgame ready.

Seems pretty respectable that they have decided to delay it that long, when they could have pulled an EA and released it in the state Anthem was...

I will be trying out what they have for sure as I'm sure many others will on August 25th.

My personal beef with my current MMO's - GW2, ESO and Star Citizen - is that they *all* have performance issues in that it doesn't matter if you have a potato or a super computer, the game still runs like a dog at times.
It they can solve that then I'm a happy player.

I'm not that hopeful though as they use Amazons LumberYard engine, the same as Star Citizen, where the PU is totally unplayable for me. Game says +60fps, feels like 5fps.

So, anyone who has pre-ordered the game can install the "Confidential Test" from steam. Its live tonight from 10pm and is on to stress test the servers.
I've already got it downloaded and yea, no worlds to join. So I'll be looking at 10pm to join one and see what it's all about.

I think it's the full game as it currently stands.

Twyst and I are on server "Rusty" if anyone else gets on.. up to level 10 myself now, seems really good, combat is very Chivalry like.
