Just been to the physio as I've been getting pain in my right arm and shoulder for a couple of months now, turns out I have bicep tendonitis and my rotator cuff is knackered.... anyone else experienced these before and how long does it take to get better?

Chaosphere

It can take a long time. The rotator cuff is a unique and complex muscle group, and we use our shoulders almost constantly in day-to-day life. Good physio can make a world of difference, but don't expect this to sort itself out in a week or two - you're looking at months of work for slow progress, more likely.

I've got tendonitis in both my shoulders from work, had it a few years now, most the time it doesn't bother me much, when it gets bad I basically can't use an arm, I'm not sure mine will ever get better or at least not until I do something different for work/don't work.

Penfold

I tore my rotator cuff last summer and couldn't move it (literally) for about 3 weeks. Gradually got it back on track after several bouts of physio and cortisone injections.

Mrs sulky had to have hers operated on, about 2 to 3 months recovery

through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.

Depends on severity.   At the mild end it is painful when you list the arm up towards or above shoulder height, but it recovers.  From experience it's almost like a partially separated shoulder feeling.  At the more severe end you can need surgical reconstruction.

My father needed the surgical route and spent 6 months with his arm on a foam wedge, keeping his upper arm horizontal.
My favourite punky QB for the Chicago Bears also had to go down the surgical route after what was probably the dirtiest play I have ever seen in the NFL.  That hit from Charles Martin effectively ended McMahon's career.  When he returned after surgery and a lengthy rehab, he was never the same.

Problem currently I have is I can't get it looked at at least until this virus thing is under control. All I can do is the exercises I have been given to do.  It's improving slowly, just when I forget and overreach or twist and suddenly get shooting pain down my arm 😫.

Tie a strip of coloured fabric or similar around your arm as a reminder - sounds stupid but it works.

You can go to see a physio during lockdown, medical help is there for more than just covid, don't make it worse by trying to "protect the NHS"...
