:byebye:my mouse (a roccat nyth someone gave me a few years ago) is having issues: the wheel isn't tracking properly so scrolling is painfully unpredictable. I've dug my old logitech mx510 out of a box for the moment and it feels really rather narrow compared to the roccat (I put the "wide" side piece on the nyth on day 1).

Ideally I am looking for something with good ergonomics (old hands...) and a bit wider (fat hands...) than the nyth - it still leaves my little finger hanging out in space.

Since doing a bit of searching I believe I would tend to want to use what is termed a "palm grip" although I think I often end up using something more like a "fingertip grip" because the mice are just not big enough to rest my whole hand on. Pretty sure I do not use a "claw grip". The searching has left me a bit confused though as "large" doesn't seem to have a useful industry standard measurement :flirty:

Any suggestions vey welcome! 5 buttons is enough - the many many buttons on my nyth are simply set to be fwd and back...

Steel Series Rival 500. It's exactly the same width as your Roccat at 7.8 cm. The rival is a decent mouse that ticks most boxes https://www.tomsguide.com/uk/us/steelseries-rival-500,review-3938.html

I use the 710 model which is a bit more flash but a bit more skinny 7.6 cm at the base and 5.6 cm at the waist.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Thanks both! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I liked the mouse-search, and the rival does pop up in a few places, ...and then I found this nifty filter... https://www.rtings.com/mouse/tools/table
...apparently, with the options I put in, I should go for one of these...

I don't think Mad Catz are even a thing anymore are they? you can't get hold of the Anker one, the Asus one is expensive, so....

Sorry I am late to the party.

I use a good old-fashioned Logitech G602.  My hands definitely meet your above 'old & fat' criteria, but this mouse is really comfortable and has a thumb rest which is more of an aid to comfort than you think and encourages the 'palm' approach.  It is wireless as well.   The G602 is old but you can still pick it up for about £55 if a five second google search can be trusted.

The modern variants of the G602 seem to be the Logitech MX Master series, the latest of which is the MX Master 3.  They have the same basic shape, size and design so would also be a good fit, albeit that they prices then rise as you go newer (MX Master about £65, MX Master 2 about £70, MX Master 3 about £85).

Highly recommended.

As another advocate of large mice - G502 Hero here. As TL says, the thumb rest makes the package so comfortable.

Got the MX Master 2S, love it. Super comfy and being able to bind it to three separate machines and switch between them with a press of a button as well is brilliant for my use case.
