Chaosphere

SO for the start of New World on the 28th (or whenever you can get on), we are joining -

Server - FAE

Faction (Unlocked at level 10) - Syndicate

Company - The Competitive Casuals - to join, add Youriprdms in-game and ask for a company invate via direct message!

The company comes from a group Jewelz has been playing WoW with for a few years now. We are joining forces with them for New World to ensure we have sufficient numbers to tackle the PvP and later-game content.

They have their own Discord, which can be accessed via the link below -

CLICK ME FOR CHITTER CHATTER

We will still be using the dMw Discord as the first port of call, but some things might be better done grouped up.

PLEASE REMEMBER when over there you are essentially representing dMw! Don't be a total muppet! Do be nice, and do tell them how fantastic our LANs are (and wow, such handsome admins).
In addition, during the first few quests, try to make decent tools.

Flint tools should be easy enough to build from the word go.

There is also a quest early on where you are given a decent amount of Iron, and only have to actually use a small amount for the quest.

It is strongly recommended to use the rest to make iron tools - this makes gathering much easier!

You can respec for free up to level 20.

Keep any fronded petalcap you collect early on - you'll need it for the main quest a bit later.

Similarly, level up your gathering - you need to hit level 30 for a quest later on.

Saltpeter, found in caves, is an essential ingredient for ammo. Be sure to collect it when you can.

ALTERNATE SERVER -

Carcosa.

Still Syndicate.

Few of us have joined this to avoid the queues. Eventually we will of course merge into the server containing the rest of the group.

Come join us! :)

Windsward, Monarch's Bluff, or Everfall.  Windsward is my fav but any of those 3 are decent.

I'd also say it doesn't take that long before you are doing quests that are out into other zones anyhow, really depends how you want to progress.

That's a good point, the questline does eventually sync so no one should panick if they find they've started at the wrong town. It's probably only a couple of hours of questing on your own before it merged.

I'm not likely to start until a few days after launch but I'll still make sure I'm on the same town to just to save me having to move anything I stick in storage (I'm a bit of a hoarder when it comes to gathering all.the.things).

I'd not seen much of Everfall so would be nice to start somewhere newish. No objection here.

Jewelz^

I'd suggest making all your flint tools in those first quests too, not just the skinning knife.

Not that it matters after fast travel is enabled, but the Hermit is nearer Windsward and a lot of time is spent going back and forth to him up into the low level 20s. I noticed the Covenant mostly controlled the mid-North (Everfall and Monarch's bluff) in the open beta and Syndicate controlled Windsward and lower (First Light). Also more of the early missions are in the South half of the map. You also get more sea and pirate action in the South if that floats your boat (sorry).
No ojection to Everfall and happy to try a different faction from the beta. Next week I'm away on holiday, I wonder if my old GT60 MSI with its GTX 690M will cut it?
Cheers, Bert

Gunda

to add to the flint tools at the very first campfire.
i would also take note when you have a quest that gives you a box of iron in your inventory the quest only uses some of that iron so you have enough left over to make some iron tools which are a massive speed upgrade over the flint ones and i would very much recommend making.
Yay I have a 780M and the minimum desktop is a 670.

From what I can see there will be lots of dinosaurs playing, me included!

Chaosphere

I've added Everfall for now.

I've also added the top tips from Gunda / Jewelz. We can add more stuff if anything pops up!

Gunda

put your points into STR to start with as everyone has a sword at first, you can respec your stats for free anytime until level20, STR = more sword dmg = faster exp

Jamoe

Some more early tips, nothing that will spoil the journey/self descovery but hidden just in case.
Early on pick up some fronded petalcap (hopefully you've already made a sickle), it's used in the main quest line. Level your harvesting as you go, you'll want lvl 30 so that you can pick watercress, again this is needed in the main quest line. (6 of each, 3 raw and 3 to make a potion)

Saltpeter is used to make gunpowder which in turn is used to make ammo. It's found in caves. If you see it, gather it as for me this was an annoying material to acquire. If you like the bow, kill and skin them turkeys. Or just buy your ammo in the trade station.

The faction quest can be completed by lvl 8-9 (lvl 10 to join a company), this will open up more quests which are often close to town quests. Can be done in groups and you can spend your earnings on some good faction gear.
It didn't take long to get the weapons I wanted though ..... rapier and firestaff.
Did they change that? I didn't get a chance to play last round due to brothers wedding.

Chaosphere

I dont think so - Gunda just wants to be as efficient as possible, I think! :D

I went Rapier immediately, you can’t respec the weapon levels as they are purely based on use of that weapon class (FYI for those still to dabble). So the early XP helps get your preferred weapon up to lvl5 fast as well. Rapier benefits from Intelligence rather than Strength to do more damage and that means you also work on your magic strength as well.
