I know we've ran this before - but I have never properly gave it a go

Theres obviously different maps out and I think its came a long way since initial release.  There are maps out there now that have 'goals' - (i've been watching TRMZ and HappyBombs on twitch/youtube and been enjoying their journeys) - deer isle has a crypt on an island you cant survive on unless you can get a "bear ghillie suit" - I dont know the ins-and-outs as i'm no expert.

But i've only spun up my own server for pve purposes just to get to grips with the game.

Any interest in the community for playing this as I have seen a few with a number of hours played?  (currently £20 on steam)

Cheers

I have always loved dayz, but one of the big things about dayz is its pvp aspect, unlike other hunter gather survival games, dayz doesnt have a boss system or challenge to work towards other than survive zombies and other players. So, my question about this is would the pvp aspect be part of the dmw server, or no? I understand there are maps with an end goal, but I'm under the impression that they would be rather easy to complete since we wouldn't have the fear of other players potentially being in the hot zones of a map.

Edit: Paddy mentioned the fact the Arma boys used to go onto wasteland servers as one clan to help work together against other players. That way we are working together as a clan against public clans.

:w00t2: Id join a DayZ server, absolutely love the game! :woot2:

Addx does make a good point though. PVP , whilst not crucial, does spice the gameplay up a lot. simple things like looting buildings suddenly become a lot more tense, added missions have a time aspect so that you are in and out before someone comes along and steals all your hard work :D and whilst in the moment I've hated every second, I felt it made the game a lot more fun afterwards.

On the flipside to this I don't think a PVP server with just DMW members would work either. Everyone is on discord, we all know each other , all talk to each other etc so the PVP aspects I think make the game better also wouldn't exist- if that makes sense?

I think a really cool middle ground would be a public PVP server with a DMW clan in it. I was talking to addx earlier about evenings where some of the arma players went onto a public wasteland server as one group and destroyed everyone (obviously they shot first ;) ) and it was some of the most co-ordinated gameplay I have ever seen :roflmao: and was really enjoyable. If we could somehow recreate something like that I think it would be ace, also for brownie points may get some more recruitment on the go.

I don't mind either way though, I know PVP isn't for everyone and we all know what I'm like when I'm free to build uninterrupted :D

Edit: Happy to jump on comms with anyone and talk about thoughts and ideas, my typing always makes me seem far more unenthusiastic and miserable than i normally am!

I totally understand and appreciate the PvP aspect of Dayz and its a big part of the game - my concern is for short term not to have PvP enabled as there is a steep learning curve without the added threat of getting shot to pieces when you finally find your feet :D as that would put so many off

I'm quite happy to also play on a PvP server - but i'm learning the game at moment - watching a lot of stream/YT so learning - there are maps where there are end goals (deer isle for instance getting certain tools and then getting to certain areas of map - not divulging too much as spoilers)

Hope this gives my view on things

Used to play a fair bit and had a server up for a while. One mod i quite liked was Toxic Zone and i know late last year an update was released adding "Contaminated Areas" to the main game so wouldn't mind giving it a try.  Not played for about 18 months.  Just had a look at my subscribed Mods list and really don't remember most of them.

Off the top of my head ...

Why not a private PvE server for us n00bs to learn the ropes AND a well run and well administered dMw public PvP server for those members who prefer that aspect of the game. Who knows, it might be a vehicle to attract new blood to the community (no pun intended).

This is exciting. I never played the game but would jump in for this.

Penfold

I'm new to this game but as I understand it the PVE server is up and runs a few generic lifestyle mods.

PvP server
------------------

I know it's been mentioned in discord already, but we would like to run the PvP server as a chance to draw people in to use it.

Please let us (whitey) know what sort of mods/map you would like to run.

- What attracts you to a particular type of server?

- What mods (if any) do you think make the game better?

Once we get more of an idea of what you'd like set up we can expedite the process of getting it going [emoji106]

Post below and give us some ideas to work with, it's a chance for you guys to put together the best map/settings/mods to make the game as enjoyable for us/others [emoji106]
