Map rotation

What maps (if any) would you like to see removed from the rotation and why?

Try to base your arguments on PCS principles.

I think the only map in the rotation should be cs_assault because its cool and PCS works so well with such simple boundaries :-)

On a more serious note, I think de_egypt is a bit poor as a PCS map.  The boundaries are just so converlute.  PCS also adds to the CT bias on the map.

Ok, so I have taken the question too seriously, but I thought I might try to apply a bit of logic to my choices - so I quickly scored the maps on their general interest to me (older & simpler maps score less well), their suitability to MH PCS style of play (are there sufficient choices for T/CT to allow a diverse attacking or defensive strategy), and considered the minimum team size that would allow reasonable coverage of the map.  The results are not easy to read in forum format, but each line gives:

I didn't include team size in the final score as it was more out of curiousity, but interestingly if you include team size in the final score it really doesn't change the list significantly.

So there you have it - I would lose the bottom six maps from the rotation......so goodbye dust2, vertigo, assault (sorry DeathWarrant/Dark Angel), siege, egypt and dust.

Sorry but tbh i dont think we should base the entire map rotation on 1 persons feelings towards a map, classic's such as dust 2 and vertigo imho are well suited to PCS based play.  Why not ask the regulars for 6 maps that they think arent suited to PCS style play and take things from there?

i think every member of the comunity shouyld put forward 2 or 3 maps and the 4 or 5 with the most votes get push off the edge of the metophirical gaming cliff

What about the opposite? We put forward the maps we want to see and the ones chosen most often go in - everyone picks 12 maps.

We're not. I'm asking everybody their views. TL's entitled to his and at least he's applied some logic to his conclusions.

Why six?  Don't make the mistake of thinking that because we're going to playtest six new maps that six oldtimers are for the chop.

The simple truth is that it's far easier to vote off old maps than it is to adopt new ones (egypt being a classic example). So with that in mind it makes sense to hear as many arguments for and against the current rotation. If the majority of Meat Hookers dislike a particular map then let's get rid of it and find something better.

Let's face it all maps aren't PCS at all times. Why? Because number of players change how the map is played. We need maps that are small, medium and large.

Perfect example is de_cbble a few weeks ago with 12 players on each team. The map is very good say 8 vs 8 (and less) but totally unplayable at 12 vs 12 in PCS style. It is good to a have a larger rotation so we can choose maps after the player amount.

I hope you will fix the admin_vote_map command so it actually switches to the suggested map and not just the next map in the rotation.

mmmmm.......seems to me that everyone is in the same frame of mind on Egypt..........not a good map for pcs or otherwise, so if this one was to get the boot in favour of Drugwar/France or Bitterwine..... then I don't think there'd be too much fuss !!
