I'm shoving this in the Admin forum as I'm a bit worried it might offend som of the dMw who live local to March and might come across as a little confrontational....

Was it just me or where any other people a bit concerned about the number of people who seemed to wander in during Saturday night and Sunday. I know there is a regular nightclub on a Friday night at The Griffin and some confused clubbers were inevitable. I'm referring though, to the people who seemed to either know the Bouncer (I use the term lightly as I could have blown him over  :) ) or some of the atendees and were allowed to wander about freely.

There's a hell of a lot of equipment, cameras, mobile phones, games etc. lying about and I'd hate for something to go walkabout  :(

It's all in the past now and (I hope) nothing did happen. Maybe I'm being paranoid but might it be worth bearing this in mind for the next LAN ??? At least make sure the Bouncer doesn't invite his mates in for a walkabout  :)

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Good point.

Security should be an agenda item from now on.

This was something i got a little annoyed about.

Friday night it was Fatbob's mates that came in and some people who came for the nightclub.... Most of the ones for the night club got sent away but a couple i beleive slipped through (Great bouncer i don't think it would have taken much to sort him out)

Saturday night it was a few people who wandered past the door and noticed it open and came in to see if the nightclub was running. When i noticed them i went over to get rid of them, i managed it with 4 out of the 6 as they started to take the piss out of it and made it clear they should go away. The remaining 2 were a couple who were genuinely interested in what it was all about so i chatted to them for 10 mins, i left them talking to sheepy and duvel as they were harmless.
After they left i locked the front door to stop anymore coming in but this should have been done earlier in the evening.

This is the first time we have had this problem but it doesn't mean it wont happen again so we need to be on top of it for next time.

Aye ...The locals were a pain .....and as far as i am concerned the less people that know about the £30,000+ of equipment in the room the better

It should only be a problem if they continue to hold the Disco on fridays

There were also another few things we need to take into account with the Griffin:

1) Heat, boy t was uncomfortable all weekend in that room. I suffer badly with dry eyes in stuffy conditions and my eyes stiil hurt now. Plus lokoing at a PC screen made it worse. This wasn't a problem before, what was different this time, the outside temp or something? I personally didn't enjoy the LAN as much as previous ones gaming wise, and could hardly see a thing by 11pm both nights so ended up getting an early night.

2) Staff from hotel walking in and out a lot, especially the older chap possibly the duty manager. We need to be careful what we do in there because one time he stopped at Ron's desk when a rather hot looking bint was getting seriously rogered. We don't want to get areputation for hold porn festivals in the Griffin, rumours spread and evolve and before you know it much more serious accusations may emerge.

The breakfast staff are miserable sods in the Griffin, I mean Ninja politely asked for a BLT sarnay for breakfast, we were alaready getting servers bread, the B and the T anyway but so get told "Full English or Nothing" which I think is unacceptable. OK the room price is very good but manners cost nothing.

3) Power, the ususal power problems.

4) Still thinking of more.
