Hi Folks,

I had a brief Friends chat with Oldie last night about the match selection strategy of late.

It basically consisted of me saying "Why have I been overlooked so many times recently?". Last night was a MISC match not a Delta match, I had been avail since the day it was posted and I allowed myself to leave work early to get home for it.

Firstly, I understand that we have had a number of Delta classed matches recently and Secondly, I personally have not been available for many matches this year so far due to working late at lot (cry).

Around the last 6 or so matches I have said I have been available for, have resulted in me being on MH all night and not getting selected. The reason Oldie gave is that the CoFR and 12K selections have been based on picking the best team available on the day. This does 2 things for me:

1) Means I have turned up 6 times without getting picked once, an experience I would imagine many others have not had whilst being in dMw other than when they first join and are settling in. This makes me feel like it is getting more and more pointless turning up for a match as I won't get picked. E.g. I offered to cover the 12 midnight match this Saturday but since there are a number of better players an maybes I would be better off getting an early night as I play golf at 08:30 on Sunday mornings.
2) Tell's me I'm not good enough for Delta matches even though the first few matches I was selected over the like of Duvel and Ice Hawk, DA etc.

I don't really understand the criteria for selection. If it's stats, then I'm up there above Squ0nk and JAS (sorry guys being a stato here, nothing personal). And with all the respect in the world, should perhaps have been offered a chance to play when these guys have in fact been picked.

I'm also, from my standard of play on MH and other servers, a main round winner, not just from a kills point of view but from completing objectives. I make accurate calls that often lead to good cover and round wins. As a result many of the matches I have played in, we have won, and I have a 100% SL win record. (OK I've only done it twice but hey a records a record).

Anyway, this is not so much of a whine, as I'm not really about to go off the rails at not getting selected (Slowhand style for example), but it would be nice once in a while and certainly would increase enthusiasm in the SL job which I have neglected this year due to lack of time.
Cheers, Bert

The match was MISC but the squad was Delta.

I would hope that everybody who makes themselves available for a match would do the same.

We haven't played a Ghost/Zombie match since 6th May. The need to rebalance the squads (prompted by the dire availability problem) meant we suspended all ED matches while we grew the Charlie Company and captured everyone's general availability. The 12K League and the CoFR tourney were just convenient fillers. I cannot say much about the way the squads for these competitions are picked suffice to say that both TeaLeaf and I pick what we feel is the strongest possible team based on current form, without prejudice or favouritism.

1. You're not the only one. We have a wealth of talent occupying the 'middle ground', all pushing for a place in the squad. If someone is obviously hitting form then they start to challenge the current perceived best players. Obviously, if you haven't been available for a while there's no way you can shine out. This is how the world works in any competitive arena. As for the golf comment, your choice.
2. Obviously, at the time TL or I picked the squads your were perceived *not* to be on the sort of form as the team selected.

Squonk is on fire at the moment and has not only earned his place he has justified the decision to include him.

No-one is saying your not a very good player. On the contrary, you're one of the better shots in the clan. I'm sure that when the squad review is complete you will be an automatic choice for Delta.

Thanks for the replies, honest and to the bone as ever but always appreciated.

I suppose it's the prolonged run of non-BAU matches that makes it not getting a game stand out more, but all the same, I'm sure if I've noticed the lack of interest in my (ok somewhat sparce but none the less) availability, others will have.

The other thing is the fact whilst it is nice to see dMw performing well in these extra competitions, it makes the chance of actually being part of that in a match a little like getting a game for Arsenal last season, nice to see the win but no chance of participating.

All points noted Albert and I for one would much prefer people did what you've done rather than bottling it up or sulking. So thanks for your honesty.

Lol, yeah it's strange how people do that, work, marriage, life, oh and gaming.
