Squad Reorganisation

OB-wan and I have been discussing the squad reorganisation and come up with some proposals which we would like you to comment on before anything is made public.

We are of the opinion that it might be the time to move to a 3 squad system with 4 matches per week with one match each week for Ghost, Zombie & Phantom squads and one for Delta Company. By having 3 squads the numbers in each squad are reduced to a level whereby each member would have an almost guaranteed match each week with them being available for other matches as per normal. This should be an improvement on the current system in our opinion.

Further, we propose not to allocate to a squad those members who have not bothered to update their weekly availability. This helps us balance the squads with people who are *really* available to play rather than just padding the squad numbers. So within Charlie we would have Ghosts, Zombies, Phantoms and 'floaters'. When picking a team an SL or 2ic would therefore prioritise their squad members first, then members of the other two squads and lastly a floater who has put themsleves down as available for that match.

Taking into account the days on which people have stated they are available to play and trying to balance skill levels more or less equally across the squads gives us the following draft squads. Please note that these will almost certainly change at some point!

Sadako has agreed to act as SL for Delta Company. His git-like nature makes him an ideal candidate for the role

More info regarding the management of Delta Company will be forthcoming in due course.

As you will have spotted, there is a trainee slot open for another 2ic - it is generally seen as being needed and the move to a 3 squad system allows us to take on another 2ic to assist with matters. In the long term and assuming that Delta takes off then this would allow Sadako to be relieved of his Charlie Company duties and to focus on running Delta Company.

We would like to enter Delta Company into a separate league or ladder so that Delta have something to work at and to claim as their own. We are currently assessing which game and/or ladder that might be and more information will be available shortly.

OB & I think the above will allow dMw and the community to move forward with a better structure than we currently have. We think the resumption of matches will improve the numbers on MH, Homer etc as people will congregate pre-match on the servers!

Can you all please assess the above proposals and comment? We'd appreciate your feedback ASAP so that we can take your feedback into account before taking any final decisions.

At first I thought, 3 squads, not enough people, but ooking at the amount of floaters (14 in total) I think 30 to 40% of these guys would be able to fill in to support the 7 or 8 normal squad members.

We could do with getting FATAL and Doorman to get their avail sorted out as they are both regular match players. That would give us 8 people per squad. I like the idea of one day a week per squad as that makes it easier to commit to playing as we'll know that every Thursday is reserved for CS.

Not a leader/deputy ....But that is a very good idea.

Virtually Guaranteed to get a game is a Big plus and getting to know the same team and build on it is a bonus.

I'm not entirely happy with 'Phantoms' as a squad name. I'm toying with 'Vampires' but would appreciate any other themed names you could come up with.

I actually quite like the Phantom name

Ghouls is too much like ghosts, vampire to me brings to mind pictures of naff Hammer films and uber Buffy pr0n flicks. Goblins is funny in a short sort of way, Wraiths is too highbrow and Demons is too much like Delta.

Something else then?

Love the name Shaddows though, very apt.

It would have been a cracker of a name for Delta - "Shaddow team" or Squadron.
