So, which ones are we going for this time?  Here's a starter for 10:

CS1.6
CS:S
HL2 :lmfao:
LFS
HALO
UT2k4 Tournament
BFV

What do we include, exclude, kick out or positively guarantee to be there?

We always seem to add several games and then never play them.

The most important thing is for everyone to have access to all the games, so things like CS:S and CZ should only get included if we all can get copies.

I'd go for

CS - in what ever form we can all access (1.6, CZ or Source)
Halo - it was missed at the last LAN and BF Vietnam wasn't an equal substitute
UT2004 - for mayhem
LFS -  nice free racing game

We could do BFV but I think Halo would fill that gap. I honestly think we don't need any more.

Are there any issues about how we get people gamed up? As the community grows and we get more people we don't know that well coming along, can we still provide 'free' games for everyone or do we have to start to say bring a legit copy if you want to play?

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

I think we're close to the limit on this.  Let's build our list of preferred games and see how things develop.

BFV was the game of the last LAN. even though i never really played it there was a great demand for it the more people learned how to play it.

According to JAS Doom 3 multiplayer is going to be very good, so JAS can you keep a heads up for the progress on it?

We don't need many games as like smilo said people find the game they like and play that a fair bit. We have to remember that not everyone will like the same games (i personally cannot play any FPS which has viewbob or in enclosed areas)

Halo.......... Didn't UT2004 destroy this game as it is virtually the same but better looking?

LFS..... i can see a few people playing it but tbh not many did at the last LAN.

If HL2 is released then CS:S will dominate the LAN (imo)

TeaLeaf

I agree we don;t want too many games, but let's build a really quality core that we can deliver on eh?

I've a nasty feeling that Doom 3 only allows 6 player games max. I don't know how that would pan out with lots of people playing mini games all over the LAN.

As far as Halo goes I just remember the warthogs and the blast we had. UT2004 has vehicles too so I guess Halo would be duplicating that. I'll defer to the majority only I don't think we need both.

I don't do racing games but the LFS tourny was well liked and people are commenting about it in the forums. It's also a free install (in basic form) so it's one less game to muck about with.

Last time (IIRC) we had CS, a deathmatch game (UT2004), a big squad game (BFV) and a racing game (LFS) and that just about did it?

One we missed out on was COD from the last lan ....just another option to think of

I feel if we could support 4 games that would be more than enough ...and with the number of people we also need to have games that support lots of players

I would not bother with LFS .....if people want it they can just grab the demo

Supporting UT2004 and Halo hmmmm  TBh its the same game .....Maybe go for one or the other.. If i had to pick i would go UT as it has more variation and more mods ect if required

Just a thought

So is it -

CS (in whatever format is available (1.6, CZ, CS:S)
UT2004
BFV
LFS (optional) ???

Might be worth adding one more. Typhoon Rising? MOH Pacific Assault?

I'm thinking that we should stick to a smaller number of games as we never touched all of the games last time.  I'd be very tempted to stick with just the above as by the time we add in competitions, beer and socialising we actually have quite a lot!

If we do stick with just these games, what sort of competitions shall we have?

What do other people think?

Avoid "knock-out" comps....U loose your out and dont get to play again best to keep more people involved..

Let's keep it with this small list.  it is a lot of work to do more than this, so let's keep it simple this time.

What we need to have are the latest patches (for peeps like me who whilst owning the games have not played it since the last LAN and are therefore woefully unpatched), latest server files and the no-CD cracks for conveninece.  Any takers?

JAS - can you organise the LFS files please?

I'll post the supported games.

With me being somewhat busy with the tournament and the pre-LAN reccie to the hotel, can I ask other peeps to volunteer to obtain and supply the other 'files' needed please?
Thanks.

I think I still have last LAN's files, so it owuld really only be the patches since then that are needed.

Please post here stating the name of the game you will volunteer to sort out!
