Server Outage?

Any idea what happened to www and forum server on friday afternoon (most of it). Couldn't reach either although game servers seemed to be still running. It looked like a DNS problem as I could get to homer.deadmen.co.uk but if you tried to get to //www.deadmen.co.uk you would get an error that it couldn't resolve deadmen.co.uk <_<

I checked with Squonk and he couldnt reach them either.

I also tried a reverse trace using DNS Tools but that couldn't reach them either. Very strange.

You got your own private pipe to the hook then OB. Bit of h4xing perhaps

I also lost contact with spud.crosswired.co.uk (193.110.88.203) the SMTP server so I had no business email all day. Those peeps who emailed me at work were getting permanent errors - email addie does nto exist :blink:

I could get to the forums until lunchtime but then shortly afterwards I lost contact with the website and the forums.

I could not load the crosswired page throughout the afternoon. I called Stryker twice and LMOAP, no return call yet.

I called Domaincity who run my DNS to change my MX records to point elsewhere but to no avail, they were on ansaphone all afternoon

I am kinda hoping it is fixed by Monday morning.

it is definitely a DNS issue. When the website was "down" this evening I could reach it at dMw Homepage by IP Address but not at dMw Homepage by Domain Name

If it goes out again and you need to test then the web is http://193.110.88.19/ and the forums are at http://193.110.88.19/forum/

I forgot. Some time ago I added the following lines to my hosts file due to problems NTL were having with their DNS.

Quote193.110.88.19 //www.deadmen.co.uk
193.110.88.19 forum.deadmen.co.uk

That's why I can still connect and, by the looks of it, no-one else can at the moment.

If anyone is speaking to Stryker then the following may help.

I checked the lookup records for deadmen.co.uk and the 2 authoritative nameservers are ns0.crosswired.co.uk and ns2.crosswired.co.uk. However, neither of those servers hold valid data for deadmen.co.uk.

ns1.crosswired.co.uk does hold valid data for deadmen.co.uk but isn't listed as an authoritative nameserver so we cannot use it to resolve the names (unless we specifically add it to our own list of DNS servers in our IP settings.
