Seems good to me although I did feel that the UniSex disclaimer was possibly some of my finest work :)

If you check the very bottom of my previous post you'll see I am asking for some help on what questions or information the template should request.

Please can peeps come up with some required or suggested info or questions please?

Thanks.

Not sure about Marital status. Do we have to ask that? It's more the sort of thing I would hope people would post in the "Hello I'm new" Section.
Love the "How would you explain TCS to an outsider?" question although it may be better suited to Charlie applications than Bravo applications.

Nice going Squonk.

Could maybe ask how long they have been playing CS in all it's guises but then again they could prob put that in the "I'm new" section too?

TeaLeaf

I didn;t get a chance to do the final edit of the template last night so it will have to be deferred until tonight, but hopefully we'll then be ready to push this out to the community too.  Thanks to Squonk for some additional info from MeatHook's Minions (yes the name is coincidence) about they way they do things.  I'm not sure it is all for us, but we're thinking about it:

Hi TL

Here is the pm Flycat (a ruleing body member from the MM clan )sent me back
After i asked how the sponsor/petition worked over there
QuoteSteve
I'll go ahead and sponsor you for MM. You can then take what you need, or you could fill it out...it's up to you  ;)

Here's how our system works:

You should get an email or a pm with the questions we ask.

After filling out the petition you submit it back to your sponsor.

Your sponsor is responsible for reading it and if the petition is acceptable it is forwarded to the acceptance committee. If it's found to be lacking, the sponsor then should kick it back to the petitioner to redo the petition.

After the sponsor receives what they believe to be an acceptable petition they then send it in to be discussed and voted on. It's at this time that a post is made to the members only forum stating that such and such person has been nominated and if anyone has a problem they should contact the PAC privately. This thread is locked. The name of the sponsor is also purposely kept under wraps in order to avoid people feeling obligated to vote one way or another based upon their relationship with the sponsor.

The petition acceptance committee consists of 5 people and their vote must be unanimous in order for the petitioner to become a recruit.

If approved this person will be a recruit for 3 months. After this time their petition is posted before the entire membership and they now vote on full membership. A 90% acceptance is required to become a full member.

If at any time the petitioner is denied, whether it be by the PAC or by the general membership they can re-apply in 6 months. There have been exceptions made in the full membership vote where the recruit was away for an extended period of time and really didn't get to post and/or play much. In this case the RB has the option of extending recruitment up to 3 more months.

Good luck, I hope we can help.

Bill

These are the questions they ask on the petition

QuotePlease give a detailed bio of yourself, including your name, age, location, interests outside of playing computer games and any other information you feel would be helpful in order for our members to get to know you

Please read the MeatHooks Minions Clan Creed and share with us your thoughs on it.

Define (without looking them up in the dictionary) the words "ethics" and "character".

What would the person closest to you define as your greatest weakness, what have you done to change this?

What would the person closest to you define as your greatest strength, give an example of how this strength has allowed you to accomplish something in real life and how you feel it would benefit our family, if you are voted to become a member of the MeatHooks Minions

Give an example when you have been faced with a difficult situation and how you handled it.

What does the word "honor" mean to you? In your own words, give us an example of someone questioning your honor and how you would handle that problem

How many clans have you been in and why did you leave those clans

What games are you actively playing at this time?

What are your top five all-time favorite games?

What specifically has drawn your interest to the MeatHooks Minions Clan and why do you wish to become part of our family?

Not sure if any of it would be any use .but thought it would be good to find out how some one else does it.

My 'final' version of the guidance notes for Charlie Company members who are approached by other members to be proposed or seconded for Bravo or Charlie Company membership, along with the application form.

I would propose altering the membership structure post accordingly to set out that the proposing Charlie Company member should supply the application form to the member.  A post would also be made advising Charlie Company members using the below wording.

Edited to allow the Proposer to refuse the application form if they do not think it is good enough.  If they don't rate it then the application needs a new Proposer!

Also, Oldbloke and I do not believe that it is appropriate for either of us to be either Proposers or Seconders.  This should avoid any accusations of bias.

Charlie Company Guidelines for Proposing or Seconding Community Applications

Under the new membership rules Charlie Company members may be approached to to either Propose or Second applications from players to be members of either Bravo or Charlie Company. In order to help you with your responsible approach to this procedure we have produced this document. Please take the time to read it.

Firstly (just to save you finding the relevant post in the forums) a quick refresh of what has been stated as being the criteria for membership:

QuoteDead Men Walking - Bravo Company

Alpha Company members who have demonstrated a mature and positive approach to the community (on both the game servers and in the forums) and have been trying to increase their involvement with both the community and TCS style of play can apply for Bravo Company membership. If accepted, Bravo Company membership entitles you to use the -=[dMw]=- tag in your player name, wherever you chose to play. This in turn helps us promote the TCS style of play and further our cause! Dead Men Walking accepts that Bravo Company members are allowed to be members of other clans as well, but we ask that in such cases you only wear your -=[dMw]=- tag when playing on a TCS server. Bravo Company members have access to the private Bravo Company Secure Channel area of the forums, advance booking notice for our LAN parties and can apply for Charlie Company membership if they meet the appropriate criteria.

Dead Men Walking - Charlie Company

Charlie Company members are committed to the continuing success of both the dMw community and its TCS style of play. Charlie Company members have demonstrated a mature and positive approach to the community and as such are valued by their quality as teamplayers and community members rather than by measuring their personal stats from the game servers. We expect a mature and exemplary standard of behaviour from Charlie Company members at all times and in all places. Members of Charlie Company are usually active contributors of quality content to the forums, regulars on our gaming servers and champions of the TCS style of play. Charlie Company members are also eligible to represent dMw in competitive matchplay, however the wish to compete in league, cup or other matches is not a requirement for Charlie Company membership. Charlie Company members have access to the Charlie Company Secure Channel area of the forums and the dMw private training, tactics and matchplay areas of the forums.
You will notice that for both Bravo & Charlie Company applications we seek players who have a “mature and positive” approach to the community.  When you consider whether or not to support an application this should be your first and main point of consideration. Bravo and Charlie members are entitled to wear -=[dMw]=- wings and you should bear in mind that their actions WILL reflect on the community as a whole. If you have any doubts about a person’s standard of behaviour either on our own or other servers and forums then that person is not ready to be a member of our community and should not be Proposed or Seconded.

Additionally, Bravo Company members may well be members of other clans so getting people to join Bravo should not be looked on as a recruiting opportunity; players who see the advantage of TCS will want to become Charlie members through a natural progression and may, in some cases, possibly leave their clan to become a Charlie Company Member. However, this should not be viewed as the aim of the exercise.

Neither Bravo nor Charlie Companies offer training (as such) in how to be a good Bravo or Charlie. Therefore, do not Propose or Second someone that you think has the potential to be a good Bravo or Charlie. They should already being doing ALL the things that is expected of a member and that is the reason that they will be Proposed for membership! Only Propose or Second people who are already acting the right manner.

We join together on the TCS servers to spend quality time with people we like being around. Our time is valuable and none of us would want to spend it with anything other than friends. With that in mind, when considering somebody for membership, remember to ask yourself:
  • Would I want to spend a Friday evening on Meathook with this person in my team?
  • Are they a great shot but just out for a good score or will they back me up to help achieve the objective?
  • Would they try to help me if I had a problem?
  • Will they contribute to the TCS Community?
Finally, if you are approached by somebody asking for a nomination then for the benefit of the community you must be honest.
  • If you do not know them well enough then say so and politely decline.
  • If you think they are not quite ready then you might wish to say that you haven’t seen enough of them on either the servers or the forum to be confident in Proposing or Seconding them.
  • If they really aren't ready then you are left in a difficult position. We would suggest asking them if they felt they were ready and how they feel they can contribute to the community. People are frequently surprisingly honest when asked a direct question. If they feel they are ready, but you feel they are not and are not feel comfortable dealing with the situation then please get in touch with one of the Admins and we will deal with it on your behalf.
  • The most important thing is to leave the person with his dignity if you feel that you have to decline.
Let’s move on to the positive side of things. If you definitely think that the person is ready then you, as the Proposer, need to ensure that they have found two other Charlie Company members who also consider them suitable for membership. You should speak to these Seconders to ensure that they have the right understanding of what is involved and you are happy that they are acting as Seconders for the right reasons.

If you are approached to Propose someone for membership of either Bravo or Charlie Company then you (the proposer) will need send the prospective member the application form by PM (a template is provided at the bottom of this post).  The fully completed form should be returned to you by the applicant.  It is then your duty as an existing Charlie Company member to decide whether the application is sufficiently strong to warrant forwarding to the Admins for consideration.  If in your opinion it is, then please forward it to either Oldbloke or TeaLeaf.  The Admins will then deal with the Nomination and reply to the proposed member usually within 7 days.  However, if you do not consider the application to be sufficiently robust then please politely advise the applicant that you do not feel that the application is strong enough - it may need re-drafting or it may be that it has become clear to you that they are not the type of member you wish to become a greater part of the dMw community.

The quality of our community is based upon the quality of its members.  We hope that this procedure for new members helps you as Charlie Company members set and maintain the standards for the dMw community in the future.  But remember, whatever standards you decide to set and apply you should adhere to yourself!
