Just to drag it horribly back on topic, Medusas arrived today(super service :))
However,
Bloody things were useless! Plagued by a continuous, rapid repeating buzz. You could either drown it out with volume or pull the plug! Mic didn't work, did it Paddy? :(
Shame, it promised so much.

Ron,

Did you make sure that the controls on the wire were turned down to about 4 (which dtopes the buzz) and you turn the sound up on the box to compensate?

That made a big difference to me..

I tried every combination to no avail. Sent them back. I would have thought there shouldn't be a 'buzz' anyway, much less have to 'compensate' for it.
Still not heard from them.

Doorman, the Senheiser range are superb, I've been researching headphones alot recently, and I've yet to see any of them have a bad review, unlike the medusas. Medusa's seem strange as I have seen them recommended and panned in equal measure on various forums for lack of quality, though it seems plenty of dmw guys seem to like them.

Two links below to two excellent models in the range, which I'm looking at:

Sennheiser 155 on ebay

Sennheiser PC 150 on ebay

Meh! In the scheme of things it's no big deal. Shame though, I was looking forward to them. Maybe it'll work out OK. :shrugs: (Oldie, is there a 'shrugs shoulders' smiley? If so can we have one? Pleeeeeeeze} :D

It's just I would have thought they'd be perfect for LFS with being surround sound and all.

Perhaps it was just that pair? What soundcard do you have?

Well you , me and JAS all have the same sound setup and we ain't got no problems - so hopefully it is just the pair you got sent.

Out of curiosity - do you happen to have the constant buzzing in your ears without any headphones on? 'Cause if so ......  :P

Let us know how you get on

Reading other forums it seems the Medusa has a serious build quality problem. i guess at that price there neds to be a catch. People either seem to get a good set and love it or get a set with a problem and hate it.

The strange thing is that so many of them arrive knackered or get a problem soon after. You would expect that they would stop shipping and fix the problem. Who would want to handle all the returns?

Norm

Been supplying them for over 18 month, not had one RMA to date. :) If and when I get a bad run of them, then they will be dropped, just like I dropped Maxtor hard drives. ;)

Mine are about 2 year old, been dropped, kicked sat on and they still sound/work fine.

Norm, sign me up for a set - I've held off getting them for long enough........... money has been transferred into the XPC account just now.
