If I'm correct: The commander can drop support crates if someone needs ammo and so. He can also give artillery commands.
I got the tip from a site I check alot. Not sure if it's allready possible in the demo version but the fella who put it up played the official game at a BF2-test.
But aslong as my computer isn't good enough for it, I can't help out.

He has to kill Ninja_Freak, a young Man whose life will have a great significance in years to come.Ninja has only one protector - DuVeL - also sent from the future. The Terminator uses his exceptional intelligence and strength to find Ninja_Freak & attempt to terminate him.

Pretty much what DuVeL said above.

When a map round begins, anyone on a side can apply to be the Commander by clicking Apply on the Squad screen.  If more than one person applies, the highest ranking gets the position, in the event of a tie it is put to the vote.

As Commander you can view the entire map through the Commander screen (Caps Lock), zooming in to a 50m ish overhead elevation where you can see individual soldiers.  You can issue commands to squads: attack here, defend there, etc.  You can perform a Radar scan of the entire map which briefly shows the position of all enemy units to the Commander only.  You can perform an artillery barrage on any point on the map.  You can position an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) which will show the location of any enemy units in its range to all members on the team.  Finally you can perform Supply Crate drops, which will repair/rearm/heal anything that stands next to it.

A good Commander will be watching the map, listening for requests from ground troops for artillery, supplies, UAVs and responding accordingly.  They should also be watching where the enemy is concentrating, and directing their squads accordingly.

This all works in the Demo, and it isn't easy...

(Anyone intrigued by the commander mode oought to have a quick peek at the HL mod Natural Selection - it has a very well integrated commander mode, which is like playing an RTS with human-controlled units. Good stuff. http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns/view?action=gameinfo http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns/gallery/12...088b050b73b.jpg )

Hippy

QuoteBenny and I were able to communicate on VoiceComms last night. And I think Hippy had his working as well.

Really? I didnt know. I must have pressed the talk button by accident.

Anybody up for a BF2 night Sunday. may be we could pw the server and see if we can add some tsc rules to see what we can do.

one suggestion would be to have the respawn rate as slow as possible

I think we have enough Dead Men with the demo to go with this. It will give us a chance to experiment with the squads/leaders/commanders chain of command.

PW will be the usual.

well that was a blast :D Being the commander is actually a lot of fun. Especially raining down artillery death on Benny  :lmfao:

I have got to get my joystick setup. I have been lazy but it NEEDS done :)

BF2 is quite simply the best team-based multiplayer I've ever played.

I'm totally hooked and can't wait for the full package. :dribble:

It'll be even better once we know how to play as a team  :roflmao:

Comms are minimal at present because we are:

1. Having fun
2. Busy trying to survive
3. Trying to work out which key does what
4. All of the above
5. laughing at OB ;)

Benny

so where did you all go?

Master of maybe

do you think we should start on the smaller map to start with. just to try and get small defend and attack teams working under a commander
