Hey all,

With the Windows 10 end of support date on the horizon what are you thinking? Already on Windows 11 so it doesn’t worry you, move to Windows 11 shortly, stay on Windows 10 to the bitter end or do something else?

Interested to see your responses:

Windows 10 will reach end of support on October 14, 2025. The current version, 22H2, will be the final version of Windows 10, and all editions will remain in support with monthly security update releases through that date. Existing LTSC releases will continue to receive updates beyond that date based on their specific lifecycles.

1/ Check your mobile phone signal here first: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/. Signal strength may be weak in your area. Make note of the ones with the strongest signal or without any signal warnings.

2/ Join a cashback site like top cashback or Quidco them go to your chosen deal

3/ Search for your chosen deal to then head back to top cashback or Quidco to be referred to your deal by them (they give you some cashback as they are paid to refer you to the network) or use The links above the chaps have posted.

4/ The best deal I have found recently is here: unlimited minutes, texts and 30gb of data. It’s on a Vodafone MVNO without sending off bills it’s £14 a month. Redeem the bills, go via top cashback and you reduce the plan to £44 for a 24 month plan! Make sure you buy just after the rpi/cpi date though.

Technology Section / Windows 10 SSD Load time
February 20, 2021, 12:37:00 PM
Quote from: TheDvEight;444848Hi all,

I've got a somewhat old ssd running my windows boot on my pc and I've noticed that the time it takes to load the login screen for windows ten to be quite long, I assume this is due to the ssd? as I have quite a beefy cpu/ram setup.

I'm not able to tell you what ssd it is as I'm not at home at the moment until the 1st of March but just wondering if there is anything I can do to speed up the load time or would it be better to buy a newly released ssd.

Many thanks.

A relatively quick fix is to do an in place install/upgrade of windows 10 using the windows media creation tool. I find that as microsoft rolls out windows updates particularly bigger updates they seem to slow my PC boot times and then doing one of these seems to once finished speeds up boot times.

Of course remember to tell the installation to keep all your files and documents.

Ideally you'd want the 2080 version. If you can't stretch to it buy a 2070 series and as Toby says get the super, Ti or overclocked versions of the one you are looking for. The 2060 won't last as long.

Brand wise its really up to you it can be as simple as a brand you like or you might want one that has a longer warranty. I went with EVGA as at the time they had one of the longest available warranties for my 1070FTW.
