Being the boring nerd that I am, I'd always recommend you gather some hard data before dropping cash.

You should run a perfmon session (Google it, you'll find instructions) to log your CPU usage while playing some games, then go back and check out the graph. If it's often topping out at 100% and getting bottle-necked, upgrading that CPU is probably a good idea.

Given the i3's weaknesses you'll almost certainly benefit, but it would be cool to know just how much before you go ordering stuff.

As long as you don't mind the stress-related illness it'll give you, Overcooked is ace on a big TV.

Neither of those options sound amazing for other attendees to be honest. If the LAN's booked up and full, then it's full - please don't try and move mountains to accommodate me, especially if that means someone else's weekend isn't as great as it should be.

That's a problem with your local network/machine, so unlikely to be affecting anybody else. TL's ethernet driver suggestion is a good one, especially if you just had an OS patch.


Have you got any other ethernet devices plugged into your router, and are they picking up IP addresses correctly? If they are, it narrows down the scope of the issue to just your machine.

I've been reading majorly good things about Overcooked. It's been voted one of the best games of 2016.

My problem with 4K as it stands is that it pretty much forces you into the high-end GPU market - most mid range and certainly very few low end cards are going to be able to drive that resolution.

I'd rather stick with 1440, rather than have to buy a £500 GPU every couple of years.

You're asking about two entirely different games, so it's not easy to recommend one over the other. It's a bit like asking if you should get FIFA or Doom...

One's a multiplayer FPS, the other a sandbox driving/heist game.... Out of those two genres, which do you prefer?
