Ok, I have been on Baldirc. Steam seems rather unstable. I must restart the comp between each load of steam.

The trick that did it and made it "work" was this:

1. Install steam small version (the 500kB one)
2. Do not install cs or anything else. Just update steam.
3. Install steam Large version (379 MB) into a new folder (e.g. steam2)
4. Copy SteamApps from Steam2 to steam
5. Uninstall steam2
6. Launch steam

Sounds bizarre but it actually worked ...

Well extreme circumstances call for extreme measures ...

Btw did i tell you I have installed/repaired steam more than 50 times today ...  :blink:
