coolio sneaky its epic in arma

I came into this world with nothing,
through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.

Anyone had any experience with FaceTrack and the PSeye camera? I've got one camera with a IR pass filter in (basically the same as trackIR uses without the pre-processing) and an unmodified camera. I couldn't get either to work properly with arma. Was always a bit twitchy no matter what settings/curves/voodoo I managed. Anyone shed any light on it? I really wanted to get this working for Elite: D and Star Citizen properly.

Before you say it... I know. I could've just bought one... but £150! I'm too tight for that :narnar:

Aye. They don't like Microsoft devices being used with Microsoft products.

Wait? What?

Arcon has built his own TrackIR gizmo.

takes a bit of soldering and flashing code to set it up, but id be happy to set one up for anyone, just pay for the parts.

Well that's really nice. What exactly is it you've built, if you don't mind me asking? Curious to know what it takes.

its basically a joystick on your headset it has the 3 axis, not as complex as trackir but cost me in total about £15-£20, i'll get a few pictures taken.

you get pitch, roll and yaw, which for the price I'm happy with, when I don't have my girlfriend screaming down my neck for new bathrooms/kitchens/boilers i'll probably pick a trackIR up but untill then this does the job nicely, have only tested with arma and ED, havn't tried SC yet but i'll give it a shot when i get a longer cable  for it.

Oh yeah it has to be connected to a mini usb cable but if you get long enough you can just cable tie it to the headset cable which is what i'm planning on doing.

Looks like a fun project - got me hunting as I wanted to do something with a little arduino board. I found a blog that sounds like your headset...

I think Lameduck has his Track ir now.

I'm attaching my LFS, Assetto Corsa, Rise of Flight and DCSBlackShark profiles here, if you want to try them.  You might find my LFS one works for you.  The Blackshark one is the one I use for very high precision work (where you need to look accurately look at specific parts of the cockpit).  This one may be good for Elite?

Some profiles you can use for multiple games..but some games will always need there own profile. Just experimentation will tell you.  For example the Assetto profile wont work well with LFS (it will feel too sensitive) and the LFS profile wont work well with Assetto (it will feel too sluggish).

Thanks for the profiles Sean, yes, mine did arrive yesterday. Very pleased with the product, but there's very little support on profile setup etc, in fact I got most knowledge from a video by one of your countrymen Gerry Abbott, on Youtube ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TASEXUd4Oto ).The on-line help file is out of date, so fairly useless. Tried it with Live for Speed (good) and Elite (excellent). FSX required a change in their profile, as there was very little pitch and I could only see the tops of the flight panels and had to increase the range for left and right view. After changes it was a great experience and flying was much smoother than normal, not having to change views, change settings on the 3D panels etc.
Star Citizen was a complete disaster, so bad that I gave up.  It takes so long to exit the program, change the profile, reload SC ad infinitum
