Are we all up for an Infantry only Sunday night bash again.

The rules are:

No using Tanks, Aircraft, APC at all. (Not even for transport)

You can use any type of jeep (that includes its weapons)
you can use any of the Fixed ground based weapons ( TOW and Heavy MG)

OldBloke

Sounds good. We may even have a friendly team to play against so let's all try to be on the server at 8pm :D

I hope we all had fun again last night. There was still a bit of confusion of what or if any vehicles are allowed.

What's a jeep  :D
Light Jeep - DPV, Paratrooper Vehicle/FAV
Heavy Jeep - HMMWV, Nanjing (NJ) 2046, GAZ 39371 Vodnik

my thinking behind still allowing jeeps on Infantry only games, is that they speed up the game. with out these flag capping would become very slow. unless we drop down to the 16 player maps. and the defensive value of most of the jeeps is low. But if you think different let me know and will try a different set of rules next time.

Personal highlights of last night would have to be delanvital saving ammo, by killing 5 of  use with one round from his M203   and then we had blunt on a killing streak with his paddles :)

Yes I enjoyed playing on Karkland last night, apologies to my squad as I was SL by default, and I'm too aggressive, so I tend to get itchy feet get in the action and get killed!

*bit of a moan*

It was kind of annoying on karkland last night, we where having an excellent game, as we drove the enemy back to one base (our Mec base across the bridge). The squad then began to advance on this position only to  come across 2 APC working in tandem near the train wreckage with infantry support. Without AT support, we where mercilessly mown down by the APC's which shouldn't have been there.

I don't understand why the DMW guys on their side didn't tell them not use the APC's? Perhaps they weren't in the vicinity.

I made the mistake of using one early in the game when I didn't realise it wasn't allowed but was quickly  and politely told not to use it. I immediately stopped using it when I was told of the rules and apologised. I then warned any of my squad not to do the same.

The emphatic use of APC's by the oppossing force, kinda spoilt the game for me a little as it had a large impact on the course of events and all the good work we had done was quickly undone.

In future can I ask when we are playing infantry only, that SLs on both sides  make it clear  to new squad members that APC's are not allowed and to ask people to stop using them when they do?

Thanks, apologies for the moan its Monday morning  :)

(*moan*) I'm sorry to see that - after the whole KoD dolphin diving incident - that we still haven't chosen to do a 'rules of engagement' FAQ for those teams we chose to play against.

We really do need to lay down some simple rules for visiting opponents - just as we would be expected to respect the rules when we visit other servers.

This doesn't have to be a complecated task - just a few lines to outline how we play - and expect others - to play on the night, ESPECIALLY when we adopt none standard rules like 'infantry only' that are not 'mod' applied.

On nights where we modify the default rules of engagement these new rules should be messaged up on the screen (like our 'No bunny hopping' sign) so no one can say they weren't informed!

IMHO!

The fact that the server was called dMw INFANTRY ONLY should have been a clue to most people  <_<

It was also mentioned on the server message. I guess we have to make it even more obvious    :eyebrow:

As to the FAQ, that would not have made any difference last night as we were not playing a nother team and if people can't read a server message they won't read a FAQ

Ehrm, well it happend more like this: they are using them, we are using them.
I was playing as one of the first that evening and I got overrun by a vehicle and was like: infantry  = no vehicles right? I got no replies from the enemy so we decided to use them aswell (and it was a -=[dMw]=-er behind the steeringwheel).

I was one of the gunners at the bridge/trainwreck you were on about, sorry but I was told it was okay to do. BTW, you really didn't push us back. We got a call from our SL, move in to their base and hold ground, we had enough tickets allready to claim victory so that's why we did that...Sorry if it wasn't allowed but some rules about it would be nice. Same as the dolphin diving I've witnessed from a few -=[dMw]=-ers. Allright, they shot me while doing that and probably didn't even new they were doing it.
We're all mature enough of to sort things out. I liked the gameplay and you'll see alot of more from me coming up.

To be fair there was some confusion on the status of the apcs. I certainly used them early on as well, and I tried to use them later when we were being overrun. Lets just put it down to experience and be more explicity next time. Infantry, jeeps and buggies only. I like it  :D

Penfold

I think there was confusion all over about APC's last night.

This may stem back to when APC could be used for transport on the last inf night.

Certainly twice Oldie and I started from the Hotel and slogged my way on foot to the suburbs (past that attractive looking APC) to try and gain control of the flag- only to be killed by Blunt (rinse and repeat).

On the 2nd time we were overtaken by a APC so that threw it for me - then everyone started to use them.

I'm ambivalent  as to whether if APC's should be used or not - they're so weak and vulnerable that imho it makes little difference.

I'd prefer jeeps only and TBH I wouldn't mind on foot only - it would be fun I think :)

I admit this:
I knew it was infantry only but I spawned next to a plane and was like: Hmmmzz, haven't tryed one of these yet. Started it and as someone was saying: Hey, who's in the plane? I crashed the plane and my comp crashed aswell and it sended me back to desktop. Couldn't even reply that it was me having a testrun.
BTW, there were also a few none dMw-ers online who would take tanks and so aswell, even after several warnings.

Two quick q's.

Couldn't you just say no mobile weaponns. That would fix your APC problem.

And/or can you pause the game? Is there a pause?

Would it be possible to add in a custom map of karkand without tanks/apc's?
