me too

I came into this world with nothing,
through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.

*Happily no longer having broadband I am forced to wait until I move house on Friday before sampling the delights of this wonderful patch.

*No, life without broadband is not happy but I must remain cheerful and take solace in the fact that the new place is about 500 yds from the exchange

Be warned! Installation may not be all that easy.
I hope you mean it requires the 3Gb during installation and that afterwards it will only have used up space in the BF2 install drive?

p.s. to get a quicker download...gamershell had some good links, particularly the 2000mbit in sweden...got it downloaded at work inside 6 minutes, burnt to cd to take home, and attempt an install

Having checked up we will need to install a newer version of BF2CC Daemon (which gives us remote admin access) before we do this otherwise we'll lose RCON to the server from BF2CC.

Admins will also have to get the new BF2CC Client

Additionally, to support this patch and BF2:SF we will need to get the updated dedicated server files and install them too. In short I'm fairly sure we will not be doing this before the weekend unless OB has time coz I haven't this week :(

Not sure yet about AAS mod, still trying to find out if we need a newer version.

Will keep you all posted.

Yep.  The installer is coded really poorly, and checks to see if you have 3GB free on your SYSTEM partition, before it will patch your BF2 files which could be on an entirely different partition (or disk even) that has plenty of space.

To install 1.03, as I didn't have the necessary 1.5GB space free, I remember I had to break out Partition Magic and up my C: (SYSTEM) partition size from 8GB to 10GB just to get the damn installer to finish.  A completely pointless exercise IMHO as my Games partition (where BF2 actually was) had over 10GB free on it at the time...  :eyebrow:

In a word... sloppy. And I'm surprised EA/DICE have cocked up by not only doing it again, but by also doubling the free space requirement.

Sn00ks

Does anyone have a link to a faster host? I'm getting 15-17kB/sec so it'll take most of the night  :(
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

Sorry, but we cannot abuse Hi-Velocity's generosity by taking more bandwidth than we need to.
