Hey oop,

Right, I seem to have developed a small problem with bf2, small in the fact that it wont run at all, it tries its best to start up, screen goes black, cd spins like it wants to run, & then thats about it, just as its gonna run all the crap at the start I arrive back at my desktop.

I've done a reinstall, didnt help, only things I can think of that have changed since I last played is the newest patch & getting my new monitor, any ideas on a fix?

cheers me lovers,

Riz.

AFAIK you have to run the game in vanilla settings 1st...then tweak refresh etc.

Also if you are using a DVI cable then you will have to set your display to 1024x768.

Switch to VGA cable and you will have all modes.

Its because BF2 doesn't have a 1280x1024 setting.

Come back Ron

You're dead right. I'm sure there was no 1280x1024 support when BF2 was launched.

Forget what I said.

/Lib searches for DVI cable.

Armitage

it was added a few patches ago. keep up mate :)

Stop folding before playing?

RizZy

Well, it still doesn't want to work, reset my res back to standard, tried with folding off, clicked on the shortcut while i wasnt looking to try & catch my pc off guard, & it still wouldn't run, any other ideas?

RizZy

Problem solved, changing the resolutions & ref rate back to standard was the right idea,  just needed expanding on, in your "profiles" folder theres your 0001 profile & a default profile, I needed to change the res/rate in both & there you go, sorted.

I was getting similar problems since installing SF - would get into browser, try and join a game, would load map to 61% would then stall, or get into game but then crash to desktop. I couldn't understand why the game kept saying it needed to optimise shader settings etc.

I then went into my options and noticed SF had changed all my res settings, which included changing my monitor refresh to 70mhz... my monitor only runs at 60mhz! Changed this and wouldn't you know it, game behaves as it used too.

phew  :)
