I've had BF2 for a week.  Now I can't get on the server because I haven't got SF.

I suppose when I get that, everyone will be playing COD2 or something...

Even if you've got SF you, well I, got this:

I have BF2 patched up to date some map packs and an unused Special Forces. now what's all that about?

This was tonight at 22:10. The map was Ghost Town

How many times did you try?

It's a known issue, sometimes it would do that on the normal server. You just keep trying and it lets you in.

Unless you're a Hax0r? :o

Normal service will be resumed on Wednesday.

sorry dogmeat  m8 but dont worry sf nights r few and far between, i think that this is the 2nd or 3rd since it came out end of nov, im sure there will always be vanilla bf2 until every 1 has sf (which wont happen cause some ppl think its pants)

im sure business as usual tomorrow night

I came into this world with nothing,
through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.

Why not run a seperate SF server if you must have one?

im no expert but its all up to costings and bandwidth to run another server,  then as posted on another thread you would have half the ppl playing sf and half vanilla, and that wouldnt be good

i wouldnt worry too much m8 as long as ppl with vanilla bf2 want to play then im sure sf wil take the backseat , i have it but am not a great fan.

im sure the server admin guys wil listen your concerns and hopefully one will reply to this thread

Several times. 4 or 5 actually, before I took the hint. It's a known issue? Great! In the meantime, as I can't play a game I've payed for, I find it hard to be so laid back about it.

In addition to that reason given up there somewhere *points up* I guess also that having a SF server and a vanilla server will just divide the community and you'll end up with two barely-filled (and therefore pants) servers instead of one decently-filled server.

I thought last night went off well - I only played one and a half games as I had some work to do, but enjoyed them a lot.

There was a good number of players on too!

So what would be wrong with trying Tuesday nights as the SF night? - Keeps it out of the way of the popular vanilla nights, and yet - going by last night - it still get's as many players as we used to get on the normal BF2 nights when we started.

...On a more controversial note, I have to say I just do not get all the fuss about whether we do or don't have SF nights anyway.

The expansion is cheap - readily available - fun - not buggy (and despite some of the moans going round the greater BF2 community, this expansion is not a 'fix' of stuff that should have been in the game in the first place - it is what it says it is, an exapnsion).

As long as we avoid the most popular vanilla BF2 night - Sunday - I really don't see what anyone has to complain about.

(I don't think we need to run a seperate server yet - we just don't have the numbers to warrent this.)

---------

It is interesting to see what other sites have polled on SF - 'secretsofbattlefield.com' seems typical and offers this responce to the question 'Special Forces - bought it?'

Bought - 66%
Will buy - 18%
Never - 15%

COD2??? Your joking aren't you, COD2 is lameness personified compared to BF2.  :P

Expansion packs.  Mods.  Add-ons.  None of which are necessary if you set up a server for people to play on.  I don't recall any of the many CS mods being forced on players just because a few people wanted to play them.

I'm guessing that the new server would be able to cope with running BF2 and BF2SF together for a night - anyone care to enlighten me?

Assuming that it can, then SF players can go off and do their thing leaving the rest to play vanilla.  At least the rest of us would have a choice, which is more than we had last night.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not against mods, after all I founded the -=[dMw]=- clan based on Action Quake.  I'm not, however, too keen on arbitrary decisions being taken to lock out clan members from the server just because they haven't bought the latest flavour-of-the-month.

Nicely put Boris...

I've been trying (hard) to see it from the other side, and the only thing I can think is maybe they just don't like SF and it's maps compared to BF2.

But I find that hard to believe.

Remember - SF ISN'T a mod - it's an official expansion, designed specifically to work with BF2...It's not like the mod situation where people might end up with lots of different mods.

Other games have official expansions and I have never heard this kind of opposition before. I used to like 'Age of Empires' and 'Warcraft' and they were expansion mad! But no one complained - they just thought it was great that they were always getting new and interesting stuff to keep the game fresh!

SF itself isn't the problem.
