Quote from: Gnomie;294978Vobler, did you try h&t yet? Any thoughts about how this feels compared to with unmodded pedals? :)

To make h&t work on the G27 pedals I had to make the gas pedal and the brake the same height. But now it works perfect. In LFS however, the setups people use does not allow brake lockups, so the load cell is not so useful. You are better off to just floor the old pot pedal to threshold brake.
In iRacing it is much more useful.  I'm not using it totally linear, but using 1.8-2.0 on the brake slider.

Ok, as i only use LFS at the mo', perhaps i'll live without this mod for now. Maybe i'll get a Nixim thingy instead and save a few quid. Cheers for that V.

Romus, i had seen those and but i had forgoten just how expensive they are:blink:  I see they do some self build plans so maybe that might be worth a look as i considered making some before. Actualy building a nice adjustable set of my own design would not be much of a problem for me but i havnt looked at the electrical side of it yet. I assume these plans would cover that.

I should finish the bits ive done so far really before i look at making pedals. My mate has just been round to see about painting my cockpit and he can fit it in late next week. I cant wait, lol.:woot2: Ive also been toying with a button box made from an old keyboard. I reckon thats fairly simple but it has to look right so im still thinking on that. Hmmm, this is getting out of hand, lol.

Steve get this: http://www.leobodnar.com/products/BU0836X/
You could use that for DIY pedals and for button boxes. It is very easy to use thanks to those push-in terminals. CST also get the electronics from Bodnar.

I have it and use it for my G25 pedals and for two button boxes and still have quite a many terminals unconnected. It gives higher resolution for the pedals than the original Logitech electronics.

A very interesting idea and looks very good considering it is still in pre alpha status

Yeah, Jamin thought it was so interesting it deserved its own thread :)

Vobler,

I came across this at RSC. It's a mod for increasing the throw of the pedal with the Andy Pastore mod:

QuoteThe pedal travel stock is roughly 12mm (1/2inch) so it's very very solid feeling if that's what you're looking for. You can also change the throw if you don't mind modding the pieces yourself.

There is nothing serious involved in doing so and you could simply do it by removing the rubber spring at the end of the assembly (just slides off). That will gain you say another 12-15mm or more of travel if that's what you desire, and it has no adverse affects on it's performance. I've spoken with Andy on more than one occasion about this and he confirms.

You can also leave the rubber spring in and remove the metal spring that's inside the middle hole (also slides right out) and just run with the rubber spring if you desire a perfectly rock solid pedal with even less travel. It feels brilliant this way as well. I have personally left the spring in and shortened the rubber spring/plunger by a few mm to suit my tastes.

IVe got one of these as my spare. Its not as good as the G25 but its a great starter/cheapy. Im not sure what others think of it but i was very happy with it until i had some money burning a hole in my pocket and grabbed a G25.

I have heard this is good. You may get it cheaper elsewhere. I recomend this as the cheapest wheel for racing.

thanks for the feedback, i have just finished watching a review of this wheel on inside sim racing and they also gave it a very good review, better than the logitech pro:g:

Hi there, i would really recommend you go for the DFGT for that price. Here is a review i have written on GPC forum last year when i tested it.

QuoteA friend of mine has bought this wheel, and since he is no computer expert, i was there to help him with the installation. And of course, a little testing was about to occur.

First time i heard was when it was performing normal calibration procedure. It's mechanism sounded like DFP, and alot like DFP, not at all like G25. But it was very quick on calibration, just like G25 or even faster.

After startup, driver installation, testdrive  Tested it with RBR, rotation 540, and also tweaked all RBR hidden FF settings (ConstantForceMultiplier removed, FF Torque increased, filters removed).
PS. While the game was being loaded, i was rotating it around, and noticed that it actually is smoother then G25. I guess due to lack of one motor = less gearing.

When i got on track, first test was on Rally School stage, and what a fantastic thing! It's smoothness is just fantastic, i could hardly tell i was driving on geared mechanism. Just that it has noticeably lower ff strength then G25. But it is sooo smooth.
And second note - it is as fast, maybe as G25. Didn't have much time for test, but in RBR i could play quite some "throw and catch" and it did very well.

Didn't test it with anything else, beneath rbr he has only rFactor, and no realfeel in it, so i didn't want to bother how the rumbling feels on this wheel

Build quality is very good, seems to me that rubber on the wheel is bit stiffer then that on DFP. Tons of buttons, everything which looks like it can be moved is somekind of button

Pedals - well look the same, maybe even feel the same as the dfp ones, don't remeber how dfp pedals actually felt. But the link above says these are different for good.

If you have some good pedal set and don't use H shifter, then this is the way to go.
Plus it has more buttons then you'll need. Maybe you would occasionally use all, but thats just occasionally. I like the way G25 feels in hand, just that leather feels way better then rubber on DFGT. I never liked rubber wheels.
But it is smoother then G25, and probably equally fast on countersteering.

Overall very good wheel, with slightly lower price it would be best buy. It would be also with this price just if it had better pedals, which are only major issue in the DFGT package.

Honestly, i wouldn't take those inside sim racing guys too seriously on some of the stuff, they said that Thrustmaster Ferrari F430 replica wheel is better then DFGT, which it isn't in any aspect. Few weeks ago i had a chance to test F430. Apart from the cute looking thing it fails miserably when compared to Logitech wheels.
FF is "notchy" and unsmooth even tough it uses a belt drive.
It's imprecise, uses potentiometer on the wheel - actually potentiometer is not the one to blame for imprecision, it's the A/D converter which it is connected to - it has very little resolution - you can see steps clearly when steering.

great reply guys,  i think i am swaying for the GT, the best price i can find with delivery at the mo is Ã,£69 from digital fusion, seems quite a fair price me thinks:D
