What do you make of it? I am going to start playing it tonight when i get home from a business trip. I just hope its not as short as lost coast, but i suppose that was free. Episode 2 trailers have been released which is rather worrying for those wanting a long hl2 expansion experience.

Gamespot says 4-6 hrs of gameplay. Not much, but I'm a sucker for HL games.

Bastet

its cheap and short, id buy anyhow, since i want to know how it goes on after the HL2 ending, which was a real gdang cliff hanger

I came into this world with nothing,
through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.

SPOILER WARNING! Highlight to see it easier.

Well you start off the game with the best weapon ever, the grav gun. And, though it starts out normal, it does get modified so you can kill people with it :D

Also, Alyx (or however you spell it) really has the hots for you. Kinda sad really as you don't say anything so it's all a bit one sided.

Cake: Four large eggs. One cup semi-sweet chocolate chips. Three/four cups butter or margarine. One and two third cups granulated sugar. Two cups all purpose flour. Fish shaped ethyl benzene. Twelve medium geosynthetic membranes. Three tablespoons rhubarb, on fire.

(hmm, spoiler highlight thingy doesn't work so well when you're not using the default theme. Not that those were especially spoilerish. This isn't a complaint -- merely a weee observation)

I like the traditional HL tram ride bit at the start ;)

Not worth £20.

I got 3 hours of gameplay out of it and while most of it was fun, some parts were uttter rubbish. Imo these levels should of been part of halflife 2 when it was released.

*spoilers*

Although I did enjoy most of it as good ole halflife gaming, quite a few bits felt strongly out of place.

Personally I hated the end of halflife 2, I found the 'Super Grav gun' sections boring and made it feel like it was one of those arcade games where the aim is to smash everything up, rather than the sequel to a fps with one of the best thought out and executed plots.

The Antlion sections of this episode were a good example of the disjointed gameplay the different sections of halflife 2 suffered from. Having had the idea of blocking up antlion holes with cars, the game uses this heavily for a couple of sections but then suddenly completely forgets about antlions and they play no further part in the game.

In short it’s a money grab by valve, and adding explosions to create false tension every time they want a cliff-hanger ending to try and make people interested in the next episode is already wearing extremely thin for me.

Yeah, but apart from that, what did you think of it?

moaners pfft  :P

It certainly wasn't worth £20; $20 however, was still bit steep I think. Although it was short I did like it. I played it through twice. Second time with develeper comments and closed captions enabled to get a little more out of my money :P  I did like hearing what they had to say about it, though would have liked a few more comments   And the HDR is quite nice too, makes it very dramatic.

Maus

I liked it. It was patchy, but when it was good, it was very very good. I'm shocked they're charging £20 for it though, when it's $20 in the States. That's ridiculously steep for 4 hours of play-time.

Gandalf

I paid $20 for it minus the discount but plus the tax (was about $3 tax I think)

Tax? I ordered it over Steam, given that I already had that installed from HL2. $19.95 minus the 2 or 3 dollars you got for preordering. Then take into account exchange rates. I ended up paying £12.something for it, which I thought it was worth.

I agree it's not worth £20 though. And I never thought it would be for the length they were advertising for it. Hence why I got it over Steam. I don't have any physical media for my HL2 install either.
