I have recently noticed that this week, boomer seems to be spiking quite alot, and today it seemed to be quite bad   is this happening to everyone or just a few of us?

Or did perhaps someone follow the white rabbit....... and took the red pill instead of the blue ?, I suspect bullet time has been used :g:

I don't know if this has been brought to anyones attention btw ???

LFS has been almost unplayable at times this past week.

Tried playing with Sith just then, serious Lag Spikes. Every 5 minutes or so, become more frequent after that and lasting longer. :sideways:

I've stopped playing on Boomer because of lag. It's so annoying, you can't get a proper game in...

I've experienced some major lag spikes here at the forum as well from time to time during the last days. Don't know if it's located on the same (or a closely related) server as the gaming servers, or if it's just a coincident...

I've definitely noticed lag spikes on Boomer, as have others who mention "Big lag spikezor" when it does. It actually doesn't bother me too much, but it's unpredictable and happens sometimes in important fire-fights.

The game servers, TS and forums/website are hosted on to 3 diferent servers, so a broadly experienced problem is not going to be down to hardware.  In particular the game servers are run on our best box and from the server performance logs nothing is spiking at all or even coming close to full CPU utilisation.  We have extremely high quality hardware and we do not believe our server hardware it is the source of the problem.

The Admins have been running pingplotters and other diagnostic tools for a couple of weeks now and the one thing we can say with absolute confidence is that our server is not spiking.  The wierd thing is that the net connection also seems to looks fine during these spikes.  If you have data then please post it, the more the merrier as they say as it can only help us identify the issue.

Rest assured we're already on the case and looking for the source of the problem and its resolution.

The lag spikes (or whatever they are) have been quite bad for the last couple of days on Boomer.

The game just freezes for up to 10 seconds, then suddenly it's back to normal.

It did it at least twice yesterday evening.

I was relieved to find that it had happened to everyone as I thought my graphics cards were overheating again (dust).

It was fine for me when I was on on Monday night. Strange.

Now seriously, it cant be that the server's not spiking, I mean, everybody is getting that thing at the same time. And it's become more frequent as of late, with longer pauses each time it happens. If this keeps going, we'll be losing quite a few potencial new regulars.
Also, I don't know if this might be related at all, but I've been getting some really high pings lately, even though it seems to have gotten better since yesterday. :g:

BK, the servers are really looked out for. Believe me.
We give serverfunding and with that money we get servers and such but we also have people like Gandy and so who check them out aswell.
If TL says stuff like that, I wouldn't dare doubting...

What ISPs are the people who are having issues on? As I said, it was fine for me on Monday, and I trust TL etc to know whether or not the server itself is spiking, but IIRC TL etc are on Hi-Velocity, who also host the servers. Is there a possiblity that some transit ISP that traffic is passing across for a lot of people is having trouble with their peering with Hi-V? It could be that Force9 (who i'm with) either directly peer with Hi-V or use a different transit ISP (I thought there were only a few though, and that they were *very* big), hence my connection seems fine.

As a basic run down i get the same as blunt. Now i have been doing random pingplots for the last year or so and the switches seem to be the problem in hi-v or something linking us to the server. I was getting some red boxes and high slides to the right with regard to a ping plot to boomer and to deadmen.co.uk. Anyway I'm on NTL or virgin media (4meg poole exchange) and i will just do a ping plot and work out which has been the culprit before. Also i have been getting about 10 choke at times of intense game play with 2 at idle. Other members however have been getting very high choke rates as seen before in other threads.
