Honda and Ross Brawn have confirmed that they have reached agreement to secure the future of the former Honda Racing F1 Team, with ownership passing to team principal Brawn with immediate effect. Subject to FIA approval, the team will become known as the Brawn GP Formula One Team.

I heard they will be using Mercedes engines as well which seems odd as they were way ahead of everyone else in terms of development :g:, I also hear the drivers remain as they, which means that they will not be using Bruno Senna

I'm thinking the same thing I was at this point last year ... it's shaping up for an interesting season :yahoo:

And Oppinions on the new points / race wins system and why you think it came about?

I am currently undecided if it is Racial, anti Hamilton or "lets all have a cup of tea and make some lovely little changes, tea cake anyone"?

I think it has merit. It appears to be a sound idea i.e. it should stop a driver thinking "I'll settle for 2nd place" and take a 2 point hit. Instead it *should* see him battle for 1st. Applying the formula to last season and saying Massa would have won is ludicrous IMHO. The drivers weren't driving to the new rules so no comparison can be made.

Jerez Unofficial Wednesday times - Day 4:

1. Heikki Kovalainen, McLaren, 1:18.202
2. Kazuki Nakajima, Williams, 1:20.023

Mclaren seem to have made some progress - only 4 tenths of Button yesterday:D

surely increasing the points gained from winning a race would have the same effect :g:

Of course more points for a win would work but imagine two, three or five drivers within a few secs of each other with five laps to go.... winning is all that matters, a fight to the death, and that's entertainment not a sport...

I can't wait, there'll be bits of carbon fibre all over the place :boxing:

I Read an interesting article "Football with Formula One rules"

Poor old Leeds:lmfao:

I see that Schuey and Hamilton have spoken out against the new rule

Since the points system was changed during Schumacher dominated racing, the championship went down to the last race nearly every season.

Now we're in the situation where the championship can be decided just 1 race over half-way, a racer may shunt someone else off 'accidently' (think Schumacher/Hill) if they know a non-finish for the other guy means they win the championship.

Touring cars has a good points system, maybe they should look at that.

Let's see if I've got this right. Season comprises (say) 12 races. Mario Iceacrema wins the first 7 races and Mike Fortesque is second in 7 races. Everyone pack up and go home, game over! Is that right? :g:

basically thats how it works, or not works as it happens....

thats why i beleive that increasing the points scored for winning a race would have had
the same effect as the rule change but have stopped the freak result you gave as your example :sideways:

but hey ho..... we will have to suck it and see how it all pans out :g:
