Joining the Left4Dead Server

Created the 2 shortcuts as BB suggested, but is there any way to quickly browse the servers outside of the game to see if and who is on?  The steam "server" screen won't let me look at them - do I have to use something like X-fire?

You can dl HLSW to see who is on the server.

If you have Vista there is a sidebar plugin or you can use HLSW to have a look

I usually check through friends first and if someone's on a dMw-server just press "join game".

Has anyone figured a way to remove the start up video?

I know you can escape out of it but it'd be nice to join without having it start each time

Meander your way to \Left4Dead (English one) rummage around till you find 'media' and delete media/valve.bik and media/l4d_intro.bik
EDIT: These files will be replaced the next time there's an update.

I just made shortcuts for the servers, tho will probably use HLSW now with docs little tip
Tho has anyone found a way to "remove" the password box when you launch the game?

I think BB had a solution to that problem.

well ive entered the pw in the launch string in the shortcut, and thats fine, that removes the steam pw box, but when the game is loaded and is about to join the server, a new pw box pops up with the pw entered, only thing it wants, is for me to press the ok button..
 
So its not really a big thing, just a tiny bit irritating

It's normally maps that do that, reinstall the map and it should work I think...
