I've been unable to access the Virgin Mobile site for a few days.

Could someone who is on BT try it please?

http://www.virginmobile.com/vm/home.do

Ping fails too (resolves to 129.35.68.230)

Tracert gets as far as 129.35.67.130 then times out.

It appears there is a sale on at the moment (a few actually).....

it seems ok from here though
Are you going to come quietly, or do I have to use earplugs?

No problem here. Maybe they know you work for the opposition?

Works for me. I'm connected on a BT line...but through Nildram. Site took a while to load. Might be bad hosting/getting too much traffic.

Possibly your 'node' (ISP) has some DNS problems? Ask a neighbour who is on same ISP as you to also check.

Try changing your DNS servers?

Try OpenDNS or Virgin Medias own DNS servers:

OpenDNS:

https://www.opendns.com/smb/start

VirginDNS:

Primary DNS Server : 62.31.64.39
Secondary DNS Server : 62.31.112.39

Thanks for the tip, BB but still no joy.

Can others ping and tracert to //www.virginmobile.com or is it blocked?

I cannot tracert to //www.virginmobile.com as the destination address is blocked. However, I can enter it in a browser and I arrive at a portal asking me to choose my country location which then takes me to the relevant website (http://www.virginmobile.com/vm/home.do)

How is your DNS resolved at home? Does your router provide DNS or does a home server provide DNS.

You can always try "ipconfig /flushdns" on your PC to see if it is a local cache issue. Failing that I would try rebooting my router or clearing the cached lookups on your server.

I get exactly the same results as you from the ping and Tracert but the website opens fine.
On Be unlimited (LLU) here .

More info ....

I realised that this started happening when I switched to NOD32 :g:

So I disabled the NOD32 firewall and now I can get to the site using Firefox but not with IE. I switched the firewall on again and can still connect with Firefox (couldn't before) but still not with IE.

I tried adding http://www.virginmobile.co.uk/ to IE's trusted sites and still can't connect. :frusty:
