Best of luck with the race. Wish I could have been there, but real life intervened.. I'm going to be a receptionist at my dorm, selling candy and making sure there's no fires. :sideways: I don't get off duty till after midnight.

#49
its still going.  i just lost connection with just 7 laps to go!!! 38 laps for nothing.  i think i'm going to cry :crying:

45 laps would be something like 1hr 20mins a bit longer than expected....

The Moose

Yup,  something went wrong Pete, lots of people got discoed at the same time, and it said you won when you discoed, ending the race for everyone else.

We're going on the theory that the server just gets confused with such long races.   I'll be reporting the issue in the bugs thread at GPC and hopefully we can get it resolved.

Real shame.  It was great fun up to then.

These's teething issues are bound to happen.

40 min race next time maybe?

Doorman

Sir, you're not the only one. :sideways: I was enjoying the hell out of that! We're investigating the cause. Post will be made in the beta testing forum and we'll keep you posted. Good you turned up though. :) As Tony Blair used to say, "Things can only get better"

What a shame. :( Hope it gets sorted out!

How many racers were there?

14 started and there were still 10 left at the disco. Couple of dummies spat but nothing that didn't come under the heading of racing incidents. The race was too long, my fault, wrong calculations. But I didn't expect it to be perfect first time out. Next week will be better.:getmecoat:

I'm not bitter- was good while it lasted...

qualified 3rd but made a poor start missing 3rd gear and was 5th by the first corner where i made very light contact with someone causing me to spin to the back of the field with slightly bent steering.

Still it didnt seem to hurt the lap times too much so I had a wonderful time racing through the field with lots of overtaking up to 5th place where i stayed, chipping away at the guy infront until that horrible message flashed up on my screen

lets hear everyone elses stories.

The Moose whats your real (sim) name.

Will definately make an effort to show next week as well, everyone seemed very respectful and professional.

Thanks for organising it Doorman :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Qualified in second.  Bit slow off the start, but managed to keep within throwing distance of Troy (K. Leu) for a few laps and eventually got right on him, before making an error in the heavily cambered left at the end of the fast downhill section at the back of the track.  The gap was then around 5 secs and it went up to 9 as i made more silly errors pushing too hard trying to catch him back up.

After the first pitstop i got into a rhythm and slowly started pulling the gap back down. Around lap 30 i was back within about 3 secs when Troy appeared to blow T1. As i came through it he was sideways on the track and i took the lead.  The pitboard next lap showed a nine second lead.  I made my second stop with 11 to go and the gap was coming down a bit lap by lap but i knew if i just kept it steady without mistakes i could win it.

Then the discos started and Pete was declared the winner :narnar:

A great feeling of anti-climax, but a thoroughly enjoyable race until it all went pear shaped.

Can wait for the next one.  Hopefully the problem will be resolved, or a workaround found.

A very good evenings racing, despite the teething problems.
I'd aimed for a quiet evening, just to see how things went, but it didn't go that way... I'd spent a couple of hours practising with full tanks, just to get a feel for it, and to practice not hitting anything, as my car has an almost magical affinity for the green stuff, and shortly afterwards something solid.. As I'd managed to do 20 laps straight staying on the tarmac I thought I'd be in with a shout of finishing. Went out late in qualy, so did a cautious lap as a banker, and did my fastest lap to date  Forgot to change tyres for a fresh set, and then remembered that the set had been on for 20 laps +, plus practice, plus qualy, which explained why the grip went down hill from about lap6, by the time I came in to change them they had covered 140km. Shortly after that I succumbed to the urge to chase the car in front, whereupon my car rediscovered its affection for the grass and walls  This earned a crawl back to the pits and 15 mins in the sinbin. Out after losing 10 laps, just getting back into the swing of things when I was rear ended by the phantom racer, and then got the dreaded "connection lost". Despite all this, I had a great time, even the time in the pits, when I discovered you could go and stand on the pit wall and watch the cars go past! Can't wait for the next one, you'd have to tie me up to keep me away. Many thanks to Ron for organising the event.

It's beginning to look like I'll be in the stocks for a few days. :crying:Tomatoes are OK but no hiding rocks in them. :flirty:  Something called SESTIME in the config. We'll see.
