JB

Is there any chance we can have a 1.6 server sometime soon as there seems to be plenty of us out there with it now.

blueball.deadmen.co.uk:27016  password is old MH password  :ph34r:

Anyone who has RCON access on my old 1.5 server will be glad to know that the RCON password is the same.  :)

PS all CS 1.6 maps are in the cycle apart from 747 which crashes the server. This is another good reason for not having that map running  ;)

Have Fun

PS Is it just me or does JBs avatar look some something from Leisure Suit Larry?

Oh, would appreciate any feedback on this thread concerning lag or how playable it is. I have set player limit to 10 but if it plays OK then I'll up it.

Might have to take the old 1.5 server offline - it is running the test maps at the moment but not many people seem to visit so I may save my electrons coz i'm a stingy scots git  :narnar:

Hey BB.. what connection are you running? Just 512k?

Several of us played on it this evening and I for one didn't have any troubles apart from getting wasted a lot. Perhaps you could fix that please.

2Mb in but only 256k out :-(

I had a look at the stats for the session tonite and the network usage was really low - with 7 guys on it was showing around 14k/sec out from my server - at that rate I could probably up it to a 14 player server.

I've added "sv_LetDoormanWin 1" to the server config. You should be okay now. Let me know if it happens again won't you?

ty to all for nice comments - I'm glad to see the server used TBH. I am still only seeing it listed under internet servers occasionally and I'm trying to get to the bottom of it. If anyone has trouble finding it then add blueball.deadmen.co.uk:27016 to your favourites tab and that will allow you to connect.

PS I've upped player limit to 12 to see how it goes (max rate set to 6500 to try and share the bandwidth a bit)

At the moment, if my cable modem IP changes then, until Stryker (who is a busy guy) has a chance to change the DNS entry for blueball.deadmen.co.uk, you will experience an inability to connect to me. Obviously you will be able to connect quite easily to the poor BY punter that gets my old IP address  :lol:

If this happens then you can always try going to blueball.sutherlandweb.co.uk:27016 as I have set up the DNS entry for that domain to update automatically.  :ph34r:  (I just think that blueball.deadmen.co.uk will be easier to remember for most people).

PS This initial change may take 24 hours to trickle through the various DNS servers so don't worry if it doesn't work just now :)

BB, I've added the dynamic updates bit to my primary DNS server.  Oh poo, I took in too much pron last weekend and its shunted that dns techno out of my head to make room....

anyways, youd need a winblow$ client which I bet does not exist.....

anyways, if your like your ip to be auto updated go into google and try searching for "bind rndc windows client" and see what you can find.

Here is a link to the readup on bind's rndc functionality http://linux-rep.fnal.gov/rhl-rg-en-8.0/s1...-bind-rndc.html as I said the server is configured, you just need a client..... or a better linux based firewall.

Cheers m8.   :)

//?

I'll get right on it.

//me shuffles off muttering wtf is he on about? :unsure:

Doesn't look too tricky

//still don't know what he is on about though   :blink:

;-)

//stoopid mode off

I run a dynamic client already which may actually do what I need. It is called Direct Update and monitors the WAN IP address used by my firewall. It can interface to lots of different DNS servers/services including BIND and W2K. I'm off to read up on it (I have a registered version 'coz it works so well so I might even be able to get support if it gets silly).

Can you PM me the server details (name or ip) as I create an "account" in my client software which then sends suitably formatted info to an appropriate location (your server).

PS If we get this working we can charge the rest of the guys a consultancy fee to set them up as well but keep it quiet just now in case they get wind of our plans :ph34r:  :narnar:  :norty:
